The place beyond the pines review
So why is this thread in the Thumpers category?
Please whatch the movie prior to reading this...
The bike that Ryan Gosling is riding I believe is a DRZ400. They removed the radiator shrouds and have white plastic and they spray paint it black which is cool.
I wanted to see it because of the bikes, cool off road riding scenes, and the great cast. The riding was cool but they tried to add intensity of the riding scenes by rigorously shaking the camera which I don't like at all because it is not realistic. They should have used a helmet cam it would have been better.
Then there is the sounds... The DRZ400 had three engine noises thumper, 2-stroke, and an inline four!
The other bike is an older Honda XL600?
Then there is a scene where they have Ryan and his family getting a picture taken of them by someone who says hey nice bike and Ryan says the bike is a part of the family....
In the end I kinda liked the movie and the actors did do some of their own stunts which is great but Hollywood always seems to not get the noises of the bikes just like Rambo in First Blood with its two stroke sounds on a four stroke and don't get me started with Charlies Angels Full Throttle!
