Vermont OVERLAND Rally - October 10/11/12, 2013

Overland will again be in Rockingham Vermont. October 10-11-12. Camping at start site, the coolest camping vehicles you have ever seen!
Jon and I will be leading a ride each day. Like the DARC Rides, we leave at 9 and but here since we are all staying over, the return is up in the air!!
Here is a link to register,http://www.vermontoverland.com/overland-rally-workshop/! And check it all out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0rCuVxgblg

Updated INFO, Rides will be Friday and Saturday only, for those of you that want to camp elsewhere, and meet up, we will make that work.
Please note that people are paying the entry fee, as they do not have these roads in their back yard, and that is the focus of this ride.

Looks interesting Fredo. I like seeing the older Land Rovers in the vid. I had a '78 FJ40 Cruiser and wouldn't mind seeing one of those again if I make it over for the event.

Thumb

I was there last year and Fredo and Jon put on a couple of great rides. Lots of fun on a variety of "roads", some carnage and no guns were pointed at us.

Actually no guns were pointed at us the year before either but we came close both times.

Sorry I can't make it this year; I'll be kayaking in Peru. Next time, hopefully.

Bummer - I already have an expedition planned for those days. This looks like it has serious potential for being a great time. For those that are going, be sure to take a lot of pix, and post them.

For those that did not ride with us last year the format is the same as our DARC (Dirty Adventure Riders Club) Adventure Bike series except that this is a 3 day with camping at the Overland 4 Wheel Drive Rally. Come on up to Vermont and enjoy three days of riding in peak fall foliage. The Overland Adventure Ride starts on Thursday and continues on Friday and Saturday.

I just talked with Fred and he said there is a $175.00 fee which covers camping and food. This is news to me too as I was under the impression that we were not charged a fee last year. I only rode one day and left at the end so I wasn't aware of any fee transactions. I think this hefty fee will have a negative impact on rider turnout. I mean what if you want to camp, provide your own food and do the rides. You still have to pay $175.00? I think not. I can see the 4x4 Overland crowd paying a fee as they have seminars, workshops, all meals and guided drives into the back country over a 3 day period. They are getting something for the money but if all we are doing is camping in a cow pasture and riding, it's not exactly fair. Sounds like I'll be doing what I did last year. Ride only one day. So this event is NOT like the DARC series where we do not charge a fee to ride. Sorry guys.

Thanks, Skip. That wasn't clear (at least to me).

Skip,

Thanks for the update. It wasn't clear before your previous post. Now on to Plan B. If I can put this together, I'll camp a few miles east on 100C, then show up at the gate and look for Fred's Katoom.
