I bought this to my '08 990 ABS-model. I installed 5.9 front springs, which I already had. Just had to add some plastick spacers to match preload. The kit also included longer side stand (not in picture). Suspension travel 210mm -> 265mm.

The forks are easypeasy with this kit at home, but you have to take the shock to a shop to get the new spring and spacer installed.. (unless you have n2 at home:)) I was lucky enough to find a guy near who wanted to swap his 265mm for my 210mm suspension, but I've waited almost 3 years until someone chimed in. So I'd go with the kit, because there are only few people who would want to "downgrade" their suspension.. Not to mention that after the swap both the forks developed a leak and the shock has blown.. So in the end it was quite the same price as if I had went with the kit..

If you don't find someone to exchange with you, consider this if extra height is what you're after...

Sorry, noob question. Why can't the kit from ktmtwins.com be used on an abs model 990?

Curious why you had service done at Moto Pro but opted to use Konflict for suspension work? Both are local for me. I will look forward to your review...

I am evaluating the same decision. I have a new to me 09 with suspension work done originally at SPS. Suspension is nice but PO had it lowered and lack of ground clearance is an issue off road. Hard to evaluate suspension when skid plate is bouncing off of trail debris. I though about using SPS but would prefer to have a local place do the work.

I have used Moto Pro for a few of my off road bikes and been happy with the results.

I am looking to bump to 265 too. I have talked to A at Konflict and am leaning towards having him do the work. He seems very knowledgable and looks to do many 990s.

The reason I went with Alex for my new suspension is Alex has all the parts in house to stretch my bike to an S. He has done this to allot of ktm adventure bikes .He also rides a big bike so he knows what works when he tunes your bike.Alex can also make your suspension to a 300mm. He is about to do that to my friends 2011 ktm 990 adventure R.

Speculation is rampant, but most believe that it's not been approved to work with ABS equipped bikes- homogalation or something like that.

It will fit, it will go down the road just fine, but is not passed engineering specs to do so.

I'd have used the kit myself, but stock springs and valving won't work for me, even with additional height.

Also awaiting a review with the differences in the quality of the ride between the reg height and the S height.

I have a SuperPlushed suspension on my '07 S and its just too darn tall for me. I wish when I had it to SP that I would have let them lower it a little. But I was too concerned about loosing the ride that I like so much. And now after riding a buddies 13 Baja, I'm having second thoughts, did'nt seam all that much difference to me.

I liked the way my bike rode but after my last trip to Colorado and Moab I knew I needed to stretched to an S. All my friends had taller bikes and they did better in the Big rocks and washouts in the wide open trails. I had to slow down and pick better lines for my self due to my bike being lower .
