Invade Sturgis

This is America. There's a simple, time-honored solution. LMPs pose an imminent threat to the comfort of old ladies, small dogs, and others with poor bladder control. Invade Daytona and Sturgis, shoot anyone with loud pipes and destroy their bikes, and then win hearts and minds by giving the survivors new bikes with nice quiet pipes. The scourge of incontinence must end!

Nope, we never left "let's say ridiculous things because it's fun! Trolololol" Although there was talk of day trips to "look at me! I'm complaining about something on the internet but am far too passive-aggressive to approach someone in the real world!"

I walked into a Tim Horton's coffee shop last weekend that was full of pirates. The guy behind the counter was trying to get the next guy in line to come up to order but the guy couldn't hear him. The server ended up waving his arms and yelling to get the guy's attention from 5m away.

I cracked to the pirate beside me that "loud pipes may sive lives but they don't help getting coffee". His response - "my ears ring for at least an hour after I get off the bike and I can't hear well at all" - surprised me quite a bit. This is common for these wankers?

HUH!?

SPEAK UP!!!

I always thought the same thing. I ride a quiet bike, with a FF helmet, behind a windshield, and my ears ring after a ride. Well, my ears ring all the time. But how can these guys really stand it? Baffles me.

Yes, people who doesn't understand audio propagation and claim that loud pipes saves lives is indeed ridiculous.

Speaking of passive-aggressiveness, isn't your two post exactly that? Perhaps you intend to lead by example?

Seriously, I'm every bit as open in the offline world as I am on here, so your conjecture is just that: Conjecture. Perhaps you're projecting yourself?

I guess that is all the loud-pipes brigade has left: Wilful ignorance of reality.

Yes, (you can learn all you need to know about motorcycling if you hang out in Tim Horton's and post in ADVrider.) Carry on.

No.
Most wankers are smart enough not to make smart ass comments to someone they don't know in a room full of people who might take offense.

Dude, I think the logical flaw would be, I didn't claim or conjecture anything. I implied, tongue-in-cheek, that this thread was taking itself way too seriously, given its chances of changing anyone's mind or behavior. And I suggested that maybe some of the posters weren't as serious as they pretended to be. Loud vs quiet pipes is a religious argument, like toilet paper in or out (out!), or whether to lay it down or ride it out (out!), or Tim Horton's vs Dunkin Donuts (go Tim go!). It's fun to shout about, but nobody wins or changes religion as a result.

So, in other words, your passive-aggresiveness and conjecture was all tongue-in-cheek. Okay, but that doesn't change the fact that you implied that people here wouldn't say the things we have in the real world. And that is conjecture.

As for chaning people's religion. Well, when facts fly in the face of someone religion, they usually ignore reality until it can no longer be ignored. Some will actually chose reality. Religious faith is per definition "belief unsupported by facts". In other words, without reason. And the loud pipe brigade continues to spout nonsense about them "saving lifes", with no facts to support their beliefs. It was funny to read that brigade talk about sound not knowing the first thing about them. Some of them may have been taking the mickey, but just like with religious fundies, it's impossible to differentiate between the actual fundy and a poe, since no matter how retarded you make your parody, there will be some fundy who actually beliefs those things.

Another a nd my penultimate point is that if idiocy and ignorance aren't countered, there will always be a few tossers who actually believes the nonsense.

Do I take this thread seriously? Well, only to the extent that ignorance should be countered, and that loud pipes is confusing in areas with high buildings and thus making it more difficult for other road users to navigate, you could say that I do.

At least I don't resign and attempt to chastise people for not believing, supporting, and following the stupidest and most ignorant among us.

Fixed. Unless you actually meant to say you don't attempt to chastise people. In which case, good for you.
