Day 13 September 5 White River Junction VT to Annapolis MD

A day on the slab. How do you spell boring? Kuralt was right - with the Interstate system you can drive from one coast to the other and not see anything. But it is a good thing when your goal is just to get from one place to another with no fuss. The only question I had to answer as I started out was which road I hated more - I 95/NJ Turnpike or I 81. I 81 was the winner so NJ turnpike here I come.

Thoughts on the road
Gas in Connecticut is 50 cents a gallon more expensive than in NJ. In CN I thought I was in Quebec.

As much as McDonalds sucks it does provide a consistency in food that fills the stomach.

Garmin insists that the only way around NYC is through the Bronx. When I decided that I wanted to go Tappan Zee Bridge the Garmin kept trying to send me back to the city. And when I crossed the bridge Garmin wanted me to go down to get on the Turnpike at its start.

Don't underestimate the value of a 10 minute power nap on a picnic table The one I took got me through the rest of the ride as if I were starting fresh.

If there is a worse road than the NJ Turnpike for motorcycles I don't want to ride it. How much construction can they do there? But at least the trucks add excitement - I 81 in PA is just plain boring.

there are no better riding companions than the ones I had on this trip.

Quebec is great riding country. And we had no problems not speaking French.

Hopefully I can find TKCs for the next trip. Karoos were okay but prefer TKCs

Finally I got to Annapolis - the money shot on every trip

The ride was slight over 4100 miles - GPS froze about 40 miles from home so I don't have a good mileage number.

Thanks to everyone for coming along

Blaster also suggested you have them drill and plug for a regular valve stem so you can run a tube. But if you decide to trash the rim, let Blaster know before you jettison it.
