Does It Qualify As A 2014 1190

Local dealer has an 1190 in the store. Says it is a 2013 that was used in the dealer launch and then went back to KTM to have all the 2014 upgrades. They are asking new price for a bike w/200+ miles on it, with a two year warranty. Would you consider this a new or used (demonstrator?) for negotiating purposes?

Dealer near me was offering 1K off of msrp for the demo bike as their starting position.

I think for warranty and all other reasons it's technically "new". I would expect a reduction in price to make a demo worthwhile or keep looking.

I got more than a $1000 off MSPR for an actual new one... keep looking or offer $2000 off.

The 2014 has some different engine components, so unless they changed the engine its a 2013.

Back in 1993, I bought a CBR 600 F2 that had been used by some Honda Canada rep. It had a little over 1000 kms (or 600 miles). I dealt it to $3000 less than the asking price, and they gave me a full year warranty, just like a new bike...!!

Your choice...

Is it titled as a 2014? A dealer can't just say its a 2014 if the title indicates it's a 2013.

Minimum $1500 -2000 off MSRP unless your in a hurry.

On looking to buy an R i rang around Australia to see the knowledge of dealers .Most, 95% did'nt know shit, but I have it that the 2013 model will scrub out the underside of the rear under extreme riding ( jumping/bottoming) exposing some wires and stuff, not good aye? They went on to say they notified KTM of it and this has been adressed on the 2014 model? Something to do with where the shock mounts , i dunno.
Is there a thread that has a side by side comparo of the 2 ??? . that'd be handy.

Simple

If it is titled as a 2013 then it is a 2013..

Not sure... wait until you go to sell it...

Those bikes are officially 2013 demonstrators. I have seen them offered for sale with discounts ranging from $0 to $2000 off of retail. The warranty is based on the release from the dealership so you can get a 23-month duration but not more. I would not support any dealer who claimed otherwise.....YMMV

If/when you try to sell/trade the bike in, you'll know that these are facts.

There are also upgrades and differences between 2013 and 2014 models, just check the OEM parts fiche.
