2 into 1 Akra.

I have 2 into 2 Akra`s that I love on my 06 990.

But I have been thinking one day I may need more storage for fuel etc. So would the right hand Akra hold up ok if I was to get a modded header and make it 2 into 1 ?
I know there are Wings etc made for this application. I just wonder if the Akra would do it.

I think it would be ok.

Anyone done this?

A Rottweiler intake, 2 into 1 and remap is in my sights.

yes, I am running an akra 2-1 that I purchased from a friend who had a 2-2.
Great exhaust. I run it with either the spark arrestor when I am in CA or with a sound reducer. Either way, I am super happy with it. I had a few other slip ons on the 990 before.
My preference is Akra, Wings, Remus, FMF, Leo Vinci (in that order).

You can get the mid pipe from CJ and a spark arrestor from him as well.
The sound reducer from KTM twins.

Im curious....what kind of db difference is there with and without the sound reducer and is there a significant difference in sound level between 2-2 and 2-1?

I would say that I find the 2-2 a little bit more quiet.... muffled but sounds better IMO. I needed the room so I went to 2-1.

The difference between the sound reducer and the open pipe is significant in my opinion. Obviously, it's accentuated by an open air open like the MH or CPR.
There are three configuration: open pipe, spark arrestor, and sound reducer.
I would not use the open pipe other than on the track. It's obnoxiously loud especially with the airbox mod. The spark arrestor configuration is ok to me. I like it. The sound reducer one is quiet until you open up a little and is what I use during my travels to alleviate some noise build up during long trips.

As usual, it's all subjective

Thumb Akra 2-1 with sound reducer

Hi all,

totally agree with Bikyto with this one.

I have 2-1 akro with sound reducer and it makes a big difference on the long rides. Did not notice much difference in power from 2-2 setup.

Open Akro - stock car loud - setting off car alarms in the neighourhood.
Sound reducer in - much quieter and Ok for long trips.

Also have the Advtank where the old Akra was - 200+ mile range. Great for Adventure rides.

Hehehe...definitely subjective. I just bought my 990 and am coming from my 2 Ducati's: a 748 with a 50mm Termi system and a 996 SPS with a 54mm Arrow system. Both are what I think most on ADVrider would call Loud!
In reality though, kids don't cover their ear when I ride by or hide behind thier parents...quite the opposite. Kids love 'em....being a bright Red might have something to do with that though...

I've been around various bikes with Akra pipes on em and I think they sound sublime. A real nice, smooth mid to low end note without that obnoxious high end Japanes street bikes can have or a overpowering low end bone shaker like the HD's. Next to Termi, Akra's are it in terms of sound.
