I'll be traveling to Britain next month, and plan to take along my trusty Garmin 1026 GPS, but I need to find the propper software for Britain. I've seen several packages offered for Europe, differing in price from $119 to $500, but its not clear to me which of these I really need. Can anyone shed some light on this?

City Select
Garmin City Select Europe v6, is what I use in my Garmin Etrex Legand C.
I have found copies of this for free on Limewire (P2P program). Hope this helps. Neil. |

Aurelius, If you want auto routing in the UK with your 2610, you want City Select or City Navigator, both types of Garmin software will need unlock codes to work on your GPS. Downloading the software from file sharing programs won’t get you an unlock code, only buying it will do that.
If you just want mapping, you might be able to get a copy of Roads & Recreation UK or Europe. It’s a bit out of date now as Garmin haven’t bothered to update it for a few years, but it should work on your GPS without any unlock, at least you will know where you are! Have a good trip, Martin |
