I did the same route from East to West in mid July. Don't count on Wild Horse for gas. When I was there the marina was under new ownership with no date for reopening. I had to run into Elko and then double back to Tuscarora and points west. And watch for dust filled pot holes between Gerlach and the Hycroft Mine.

Stop and take a soak at Frog Pond. It is about 20 miles east of Gerlach on Jungo road. It has a gate and is the only place with trees. If you camp there the trains zip by with their bright lights, it's really groovy. However, I think they have it shut down during Burning Man so the next week and a half are out.

Dust and potholes?
Near Gerlach? Impossible!
