Keep in touch when you get back into town.

Hi there Shutterman, Hope you have a wonderful trip down to visit your dad. weather in AZ was great!!! But it again got ugly around middle of NV man the wind was howling felt like I was on Ruta 40 SA riding at a 45 degree list... and cold.

BUT I AM HOME Safe and sound.

Guess I should attempt to catchup on this RR but I turned west and north contrary to the title.

Glad I did too:

3,200 miles and one sore but. My tiger run flawlessly and smoothly the whole way down and back... I love my Triumph.

Before I forget I always said if I was in the neighborhood I would go pay my respects to this tragic incident that I had read about some 15 years ago.

A little insignificant location off a small highway and a mile or so down a dirt road ones comes to this site, which has just been placed on ..................

As I was leaving I noticed another marker about a mile or so up from the main site.....

See the cross etched in the rock, it was a grave marker.

For those with a little interest here's a 2007 movie about the incident : "September Dawn" Starring Jon Voight

Were those first pics in the Virgin River Gorge just SW of St. George?

I did not know about the movie. I read a book called Blood of the Prophets about the Mountain Meadows Massacre after learning about it from visiting Lee's Crossing at Marble Canyon, AZ. John D. Lee was sent there by Brigham Young to hide out from the US Army after the massacre. He was eventually located and executed there for his part in the incident. It is hard to fathom the slaughter of 120+ men, women and children.

Glad you made it home. How is your leg doing?

Hi'ya MM. Some of the pictures are indeed in the Virgin River Gorge south of St George. I had turned off on 91 to buy some water and go look for a place to camp... the locals in the watering hole told me to head up the freeway (I15) for about 12 miles turn off at Ceder Pocket there is a BLM campground there with flushing toilets.

Some of the other ones are here

My leg has pretty much healed up from the Pony Express Ride but been having problems walking distance as my left foot goes numb so when I did my checkup and some x-rays it appears my left hip is bone on bone and out of alignment so I see a specialist first week of April. When it rains it pours.. Thanks for asking; just hope it doesn't screw up my riding summer, missed most of last season.

The Mountain Meadows Massacre information is interesting stuff. I was raised as a good Morman girl, studied the book of Mormon and the history of the pilgrims traveling west. Stories like Mountain Meadows Massacre weren't included in what I was taught. I'm sure all histories are taught with a slant to them.

Here's to your riding season not being messed up this year.

Now go check your email you have one form me that needs answering.
