I can't wait till the 1190 is available in North America! I don't want one, but I'm hoping there are a ton of guys who own nicely kept 990s, that will be the first ones to switch and put their 990s on the market.
I'm hoping to stock up on another 2012/13 R or Baja.

Well was thinking of waiting on the 1190 or buying the 990 now. Instead I bought a triumph 800xc. Might regret not getting the 990 but that triple engine is so much fun!

That might be right thing to do at the moment(my opinion). My 1190 adv r has been a week already in Ktm workshop. Front suspension collapsed and engine keeps LOUD! Clicking and clattering noise . Dangerous to use/drive .Nowbody knows what's wrong. Guys in dealer &workshop just shake their shoulders. My confindence of KTM products is so shaky at the moment. Total kms is 1000.

Test ride

Did a test ride today on the new 1190r and for sure like I thought it is no 990. The bike is looking for a different market and in no way did I feel like this would replace the 990. It's a great bike with a ton of features but not for me

I will be waiting and getting the 1190. I currently ride a super tenere. However, I am a KTM guy through an through. I don't agree with 990/1190 discussion. The 990 to me would be better suited by a 690, short rides, dirt oriented. The 1190 is more of an adventure tour bike which is exactly what I want, with sport touring (hooligan) characteristics. I can ride the 1190 for sight seeing long rides and down dirt roads and maybe hit some temporary gnarly stuff as a means to an end, not the end itself.

IMO you need 2 bikes as one bike can never do everything. A 690 and a 1190. The 1190 goes high mileage and the 690 stays relatively low.

Buy a good used 950 and call it a day. Save your hard earned money and spend it on on other things. I love my 950. I've owned many bikes, but I'll never sell this one. I'll regret the day I part it out!

Thats what I did! 1190 for around the country, but kept my 610 for abuse in the bush!
