There is a lot of water to get under that bridge yet. Lots to go wrong, lots of dramas to overcome. Day day 3/4 it will be someones to loose.

Really hope Shane has a good Safari. He's overdue as is Rod.

Yep, pretty much as I see it Troy, There are some very fast riders in there, Lee comes to mind, his nav experience is lacking but he can peddle pretty quick. I'm expecting the usual suspects however. The first couple of days will be very tactical rest assured.

Speaking of getting that #1 plate, Todd is pretty keen to get it..

I've always admired how these two push each other to another level... brothers first and foremost, but tough competitors and rivals a close second. They will be hard to topple... their one/two finish at Finke has to be a confidence inspiring aspect to take into the Safari.

That said, Rod F has some good momentum from his overall results in the West Australian Tri-Desert series...

And the longtime benchmark of Oz Desert fastness - Grabbo - is not on the list for this years Safari...

So...

They are real gentlemen, no fuss no bother. Very polite and professional in their approach. At Finke the boys and GHR made a statement, catch us if you can.

But they are best mates, and great rivals.

Has it started yet?

Grabbo

Latest ADB mentioned Grabbo was off to Morocco Rally as training for Dakar 14 so won't be riding Safari. Scored a ride with official KTM team.

Seems as though there's heaps of drama in the lead up...

OUCH! (again!?)... So Paul was out on a warm up/test ride on his new Safari bike... and fell over again? I've heard that broken pelvises can be a bit tricky (bones knitting etc) given that it is such a large bone and cetral to the whole walking upright/weight bearing thing?

How long was his recovery (from Condo) and how bad a fall was it this time. He hight need a while longer to heal this time?

Grabbo's dose of pro's and cons...

1. Multiple safari wins and titles in OZ over the last decade or more = nothing left to prove or win.

2. KTM Factory supported seat for the biggest show in the desert - come January 2014 = just now needs more GPS navigation in the dunes training, to bring the Nav skills up to par with his riding talent.

3. An Oz Safari battle with the four or five usual "go harders" = means putting a lot on the line in the typical Safari 11/10ths tempo at the front (at least for a percentage of the race) vs. the possibility of injury (re-aggrevating his Condo back injury from 18 months ago?) and subsequently missing the DAKAR altogether?

All in all seem's like a business-like decision of a seasoned pro, to go to Marocco and put in the homework for the big show in January.

Got to agree with you there Troy (well theres always a 1st time for everything)

Hopefully we will see this guy back there (Dakar) too, getting to be in the same "whats there left to prove" class as Grabbo
