not sure whether I know of too many other blokes out there ( from Perth ) that can ride a BOXER hard and be up to speed with navigation as well, I thought of you and Kelvin.

It's taken since late July, bulding every night after work, every day off, burning the midnight oil, but today I finally finished my old Super Tenere, ready for the Safari ADV Tour.

First shake down ride was today in pouring rain, to go to my local Yamaha Dealer for last minute spares and special service tools. I'm packing the bike in the morning for the 2800km ride West, to some beer with the local ADVers and final prep before the big show kicks off in a weeks time. Wave if you see me.

Fantastic job. What a gorgeous looking bike! I'm sure you'll have a great time on the ADV tour. I look forward to seeing your bike and saying g'day.
Ciao

Thanks mate. She looks far better in the metal. Rides like a big old Cadillac with the Ohlins rear and 46mm cartridge fronts. Need to dial them in as I go. Have a couple of minor electrical niggles to sort on the way (new HID's won't fire up - so restricted to daylight riding hours at this stage), so a pre-dawn start tomorrow hopefully. Am considering taking the Walleroo to Lucky Bay ferry, to get some rest and be on the west coast earlier. It also cuts out the straight 300km run north to Port Augusta. Was pissing down here today, otherwise I'd have pushed to leave this arvo and get a few miles under the belt. Being a fresh build with lots of mods, I'm amazed it all functions without any rework needed (touch wood).
See you for a beer at Bully's Beer Fest.

Yep. I met the South African, Garth Roberts, this afternoon. Good bloke I reckon. Should go okay and with a very nicely prepared bike - although a bit pink!

Regarding the malles moto guys, I cant figure out who's in this category and from reading the website it seems as though its more of a logistical arrangement and you can still have a mechanic / helper and put him on the bus. The whole thing also boils down to them having enough numbers taking up the deal.
Initially I thought it was a proper Dakar style malles moto and you had no help and so it would be fun to see how those guys went.

counting down
