Well in Dakar it is the class where Its just you and your bike and two boxes / trunks (thats the malle(s) bit) You ride all day and maintain / repair your own bike with what you have in your box you can access service area for a fee and there you can find oils etc. The reason for two boxes is that they "leapfrog" each other to each overnight stop.

In Safari, and I may be wrong, but reading the website it looks more like a logistics thing , I'd have to look at the supp regs to see if the class is true MM.
(no time for that)

Neil.

I lifted this from the Safari site

Safari Support packages for Motos & Quads

Safari Support Package - @ AU$1,800; EUR1,500

“Malle Motos”

Inclusions

• Fuel - min 95 Octane
• Transport of bike plus rider from Perth to Geraldton & return.
• Transport of 2 x Dakar style trunks; 2 x spare wheels, 2 x spare tyres; 1 x tent & sleeping bag; 1 x large gear bag.
• Assistance with refueling at Mid Leg service.
• Access to the ‘Service Plus Bus’ (see below).

Infrastructure provided

• Ground sheet
• Best endeavours to establish the service area with a ground sheet & access to your kit prior to the arrival of the first rider, depending on the location of the mid leg service / refuel.

This is no frills Dakar “malle moto” style of support. For the competitor who is on a very tight budget who requires only primary transport and refuel support but nothing else.

• Extra tyres, mousses, tubes can be pre-ordered and must be pre-paid.
• Oil can be pre-ordered and must be pre-paid

Safari Support PLUS @ AU$3,000; EUR2,500

All of the above, PLUS

Inclusions
• Oil
• Service consumables – nuts & bolts, cable ties, gaffa tape.
• Access to the ‘Service Plus Bus’ (see below).
• Swag – sleeping bag, mattress and tent all in one.

Infrastructure provided
• Marquee / quickshade, Lighting, Ground sheets
• Generators, compressor
• Tyre changing equipment
• Access to tools
• Set up each day prior to arrival of the rider

This is a good package for competitors who are confident about doing their own servicing and don’t mind paying a bit extra for access to full service infrastructure.

‘Support Plus Mate’s Bus’

Take up one of the Safari’s Support packages and you can still bring a mate. We will provide transport, and they can register as either Service or Support crew. (The difference is that Support Crew cannot work on the bike or help at the refuel). Each day the bus that transports the ‘Safari Mates’ will either stop at the Mid Leg Service, or stop at a spectator point (or both, if time permits).

The cost for a seat on the bus is $450.

This does not include the Service / Support crew registration fee. Please refer to the Pre Event Guide for information about how to register as Service or Support crew.

Please note that both the Safari Malle Motos and the Safari Support Plus packages are subject to minimum numbers being reached for them to be viable. Contact the Organisers if you are doubt.
Service providers

If you or your company have services on offer please contact the Safari Office to be listed on this page. Australasian Safari provides this contact page simply as a service for competitors and participants.
