950 oil leak. What is this plate?

Anyone have any ideas? I have a slight oil leak coming from a black, kind of oval shaped plate attached with two 4mm bolts to the casing above and behind where the side stand is fixed. It sits above and behind the chain guard. It can be seen on page 3-15 diagram 3 of the workshop manual. What is this, and does it have a gasket/seal that can be replaced?

Yep, gear swift sensor. It has a gasket behind it. Easy fix.

Ok, thanks for that.
I suppose that means I'll have to drain out all the fresh oil I've just changed! Still could be alot worse.

Nope, you can just pull the plate and replace. Very little to no oil will come out if you do it on the center stand.

You can also lay it down on right side and change the seal
