The dragon is ok - I think it is more hyped up than actually how fun it really is. Tight curves and a lot of throttle and braking (if that's your thing), unless you are a local and know it like the back of your hand. That's why there are a lot of accidents. Still worth doing to say you done it. Avoid weekends - so crowded, not enjoyable. Knock it out first thing in the morning and then be on your way. My buddy and I went on it twice, then went out to explore other roads. I had more fun on the Cherohola Skyway. Beautiful with nice sweeping curves. Just plenty of other roads in Western NC and Eastern Tenn. my opinion...

Man I can't thank you guys enough for all the great info !! I do believe it will take a few years to discover all the great roads and spots in this area. Wish I could retire !

July trip

I made this trip in July w/o the Dragon, it is a great trip but in July the BRP was closed around Mt. Mitchel sp. because a large crack developed from the heavy rains. The 35mph speed limit on the Skyline was a drag and the Park Rangers were out in force. On my way back I set multiple way points on my GPS crossing back and forth over the BRP, the roads up/down from the parkway can be intense.
