AIMExpo Adventure Track - Orlando - October 18, 19 & 20

Hopefully you're aware of the AIMExpo motorcycle show coming up next month, it's shaping up pretty good in terms of exhibitors and activities. You can buy tickets here.

I've been asked to manage one of the activities, an adventure track that you can ride with your own bike.

The track will be open starting at 1pm on Friday, October 18, and will be available on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th.

It's free to ride with your show entry, which is a a very reasonable $15 for a day, $25 for the weekend. All street-legal bikes, all brands, all levels of skill welcome.

My track design is below, and I am working with the trackbuilder to see if we can get a big mound put in.

I am also looking for some people who might have a few hours to help me herd kittens... track access control, picking up bikes, etc. Please send me a PM if you're interested. If you're interested enough I can possibly cough up some bucks for a hotel room and gas.

Please help me get the word out about this, it came together a bit late in the game, but it should be a lot of fun.

Thinking about giving folks some routes to ride to the event.

Also want to see if anyones interested in small group rides, maybe with a dealer?

While I've ridden a ton through the Ocala NF over my years, it's been two years since I've gone through. Anyone have some suggestions?

I've ridden Croom as a kid in college, and some of the areas SW of Orlando but haven't been there in a really long time. Croom would be considered a bit too hard....

Here some "kinda-sorta" routes to start a discussion. Any other ideas?

thanks!

Looks like a great show & big fun, but I'll be at a trials clinic in N.C. that weekend.

Wish I could come Vision, if it's anything like the tracks you have built in the past it should be a blast!

Are there any camping opportunities at the venue?

you can use this part of Florida Scenic Hwy (for the first route that you show):

Quote:
Green Mountain Scenic Byway.Beginning at the Howey Crossroads (the intersection of Lake County Roads 455 and 561), the Green Mountain Scenic Byway winds southeast along Lake County Roads 455 and Old Highway 50 for 12 miles through some of the highest hills of the Lake Wales Ridge. The Scenic Byway generally follows the western and southern shore of Lake Apopka and it’s wetlands. The hills rise steeply from the lake and provide some of the best vistas in Central Florida, including views of the Orlando skyline!

Considering it's at the Orange County Convention Center, I'd hazard a guess at NO. Of course, you could always try it. What could go wrong?

Not that I am aware of.

Here's the deal with this event... it's something we (the BMW MOA) suggested to them (the show managers), based on some of the events we've put on for the adventure community in the past. Given that the AIMExpo event is new, the show managers are giving it a try, to see what will happen.

The longer-term goal is to grow it into something bigger, and get the factories involved. Yeah, demo bikes to ride, goodies to win, big times to be had.

But it relies on y'all that are within reasonable riding distance to show your support. So bring your bikes and ride This weekend I met Eicky and Scott (forgot his inmate name) up in SC at the GS Trophy. They'll be there to help out, and we need a few more volunteers.

Riding the track is free. You can buy tickets to the AIMExpo show here, and get a $4 discount with the code ADVRIDE13

Oh, and thank you for the route info. These are informal rides, not part of the event.

Charging to get in won't work. People may go the first year but won't go back.

Riding the track is free. You can ride it as much as you want.

It cost $15 to get into the show.

If the show doesn't succeed and come back, the track won't either. I'm gonna give it a try and I hope it's worth it.

The show, its timing and its location is the result of listening to customers: manufacturers, aftermarket companies, powersports dealers, the motopress and of course, the riders.

It will be interesting to see if it works.

Glad you're going to make it and do your part!

Show

They should give people a $15 discount if they make a purchase from a vendor directly related to attending the show. Us old folks in Florida have to be frugal.
