I've rode some of Jeff's stuff before and can tell you that it is fantastic! He's a great guy too!

Sweet! I've been on a few of those roads with the VFR. Need a proper off-roader!

Black Mountain / Radar station is fun.

Just finished riding this with another rider. First and foremost, THANK YOU Jeff for such a wonderful path! It was a blast every day. You've got some fantastic riding in there. I'll do a ride report with pix, video, and information that might be helpful to the next guy. Jeff, I'll send you some GPS info and updates for your file.

Thanks so much for putting this together. What a great ride!

SUBSCRIBED. I will be interested in finding a riding buddy for this if I get a bike this season. I would be interested in a fall ride, maybe sooner if I get another bike. Missing my KLR, but a wee strom will be nicer on my ass.

Is this F700GS terrain? Or more like xt250 terrain?

Thanks again for the excellent ride Jeff!!

I hope I helped to support and promote it with the ride report pictures and comments about our experience riding it on big bikes.

Here is a copy of a GPX that has some additional waypoints, alternate tracks, and information that you can use. Feel free to take what you want or need to make any updates to your file.

For anyone that is wondering about this ride, go for it! It is a good one.

Edit:

I like to use a "gas card" to make quick decisions about where I need to stop for gas. This one may not be exact as far as the gas intervals, but it is close enough to use on the trip. Sometimes people miss turns or otherwise vary the route with side trips so all that needs to be taken into account when pushing the fuel range closer to the limits.

You can print it and clip it if you want to use it on your own ride. This includes the Red River Gorge optional scenic byway we took near Slade. Otherwise just ride Slade to Slade (or whatever your start point is).

Thanks a million Cannon, that's one of the top ride reports on any ride that I've read on here. The history of the area is great!
I'll make the necessary changes and get the file updated this week.

Thanks again,
Jeff

It all depends on your skill level. But for 75% of ADV riders, I'd say the XT would be the safe choice.
For comparison, it's quiet a bit harder than the eastern half of the TAT.
