My other half and I have an agreement that in the case of anything serious, we take each other to Melbourne. Only had to do it once but it was well worth it, I was put on the right treatment in no time and it really paid off.

Good luck.

thanks nev

thanks mate I just didn't want to turn this into wo is me kinda thing

The head is a bit all over the shop at the mo

I am still trying to get a transfer but the private doctors that would normally take me on say it is unsafe for me to travel any where going off the prognosis of the quack here!

GO FIGURE

My father in law is a QC and does personal injury he is trying to pull some strings, He knows most of the surgeons in brisbane, can tell the butchers amungst the good ones but he has also sued a lot of them as well
so we still need to get the release from my doctor here and it's a very time consuming process, he doesnt answer his phone, his associates don't pass on messages and when the over worked and underpaid nursing staff leave me in my piss and shit for a night, you tend to loose a bit of dignity, self drive and feel like giving up. day 2 through about day 5 I just left the nurse call button on the floor cos if you pressed it they were just too busy to come.
the only way to get them was to scream out in pain and kick the end of the bed with my good foot, I could go on and on but I need to piss and my piss bucket is full,so I will tie a knot in it until they come,I pressed the buzzer before I started typing this and let me tell you i'm not typing all that fast at the moment.

Had an unexpected visit from Bob and Jo today, Thanks guys it was the highlight of my day, still no nurse but sick of babbling on
ride hard everybody, just try not to fall off

Need to piss arggggggggggggggggggggggggg

so I will just keep those fingers crossed

Hey Gav, i don't know what other injuries you have apart from the leg but the unsafe to travel bit sounds strange for a lower leg injury. If it would me I'd have a mate come and get me and drive me to brisy if they won't transfer you right now. This is your life and your leg and you've already been wasting away there for a week while they fart round. Get tough on them, I've found you sometimes have to be an asshole to get decent treatment in our hospitals. best of luck

piss

nurse didn't come last night so I tipped the piss bottle on the floor and filled her up again, fuck it

I got some good news thismorning,
I will hopefully get to brisbane tomorrow afternoon or tues morning

There was some misscomunication between me and the inlaws, they thought I didn;t want to go to brisbane because it would be too far for my wife to visit
etc so My father inlaw will be here tomorrow morning to sort out the transfer

He also wants to sue the hospital, that is not my style I just want to put humtey back together again

Thanks for everybody's suport
you realy know who your friends are when shit like this goes down

Ps A lot of what I am saying sounds a bit wierd or contradictory but when you have got 50 people telling you 50 different things its hard to make head or tail of it or however he saying goes
Laters

On a lighter note has any one had a good "squirt" latley? Excuse the pun.

Great news on the transfer to brizvegas mate.
Your skateboard mate will be sad to see you go.

Your experience in that place shows that maybe they should be spending a bit of that university hospital money on staff.

Amen to that, I think the problem with Nambour is all the way from management down though. Needs a whole rework, that place.

I firmly believe that motorcyclists get treated worse than some, too, I guess it's a result of the generally negative stigma attached to us by the non-biking public and especially the medical fraternity who seem to think it serves us right if we injure ourselves during the course of our sport. If you stuff your knee playing footy or netball or something it's ok, but if you get cleaned up on a bike by some cock in a car turning in front of you across double lines it serves you bloody right...

Gav, so sorry to hear of your injury.

That is great if you get transferred to a major hospital.

We are going thru a similar thing with our son at the moment who came off his bike on the 15th of September and fractured both of his arms, collarbone and little finger joint to his hand.

Thankfully our son was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne which is a major road trauma hospital after talk of sending him to a local country hospital then deciding that his injuries were too severe. The care there has been fantastic despite the nurses being run off of their feet.

Matt is going in for more surgery on his hand tomorrow as he sustained a wound after his glove came off on the side of his hand near the fracture and the surgeons were concerned about infection going to his bone. They could not operate on it at the same time that they plated all of his other fractures last Monday. Boy does he have some massive scars, poor little bugger.

I truly feel for you as we know how you and your family must be feeling. The frustration and the unknowing are terrible.

Matt, like yourself is frustrated, tired and gets emotional worrying about his future with his injuries. Also trying to deal with the pain is another issue.

Keep your chin up, with the right treatment and surgeons your leg may be okay. Just do all of the rehab that the therapists advise.
