Wanted: Morris MAG wheels

Hi guys

I am looking for a set of old Morris MAG wheels.
Like these:

I would like the front wheel to be 18", but i do not know if that was ever made?
Please note that i am based in Denmark, so you should be willing to send the wheels here. Let me know if any of you have some wheels.

Kind Regards
Dennis

Are you sure those aren't Lester mags?

They are Lester mags. They are good looking from a distance but not a very good wheel in my estimation of them. I have a few that I have taken off of bikes and if memory serves, most of them are cracked near the hub.

They are not Lester's. Lester's used an I beam configuration for the spokes. I have a set of Morris wheels I'd consider selling. Pretty sure one wheel is NOS, not sure about the other. Also pretty sure the rear is an 18" and the front is a 19", but I'll have to dig them out and check. Guessing it will be EXPENSIVE to ship to Denmark. Send me a PM if your interested.

Thanks.

They sure as heck look like Lesters to me but I could be wrong and probably am.

Those could also be a set of old Kawasaki wheels.
Which might actually be a better choice since the will be readily available and you don't have to worry about thirty year old magnesium.

Just found this here: http://www.fasterandfaster.net/2008/...1-project.html

The MeGa 1 features a modified fuel tank from a 1977 R100RS, custom-built seat and tail unit, and a handmade aluminium front fender. The front fork is off an R100RT, with 38mm Race Tech cartridge emulators modified to work with BMW internal components. The alloy wheels are from Morris, and the brakes are modified Brembo units with custom-built stainless steel brake lines.

So they claim to be Morris, but I'll stand by my comment regarding old magnesium wheels.

I have NEVER heard of a Lester wheel "cracking near the hub". Lester wheels had issues - they were heavy, and if you bought the ones for an airhead, you had to move your wheel bearing packs and re-shim them (almost always done badly), but structurally, they were strong. I rode for Tom Lester's race (wheel test) team back in the '70's, and we "occasionally" fell down or crashed - back then it seemed like part of the "fun" . We dented wheels, we bent wheels, but I can't remember ever actually breaking a wheel. The only Lester wheels I have ever seen break hit or were hit by something - cars that got in the way, etc.

Hope that helps.
Thanks.

Yeah defenietly not Lester wheels. Lester wheels have different spokes.
Morris wheels also had mount/hub for rear disc brakes, which as far as i know the Lesters did not.

This is a Lester wheel.

Actually i am mostly interested in finding the Morris rear wheel. Let me know if you got one.

Found the Morris wheels I have. Rear is 18" and may have had a tire mounted at some point, but I don't believe it was ever run on a bike (all the splines, spacers, etc. look new). It includes a disc spacer which I believe you need to use the later BMW OEM disc brake set up (caliper, hanger, disc, etc.). Front is 19" and has been run, but it is in very nice condition overall. I have no way to post pics (this board required they be hosted somewhere else on the web). Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you pics.

Thanks.

Definitely Morris

Those are DEFINITELY Morris Mags. And they are copies of the Italian EPM Wheels, I have a magnesium set of EPM's on my MAGNI BMW MB2.

Lesters never had a rear wheel that used a disc brake, plus as others have pointed out, Lesters have a different style of spoke.

hey Dennis, there's one for sale on the IBMWR under "R-Airhead Parts for sale". Don't know if he'll ship to Denmark though... http://marketplace.ibmwr.org/

Those are Morris mags and Lester's do not brake or crack at the hub. I have had lots of Morris mags over the years and it seems that they have all disappeared. I too would love to find a set along with the rear caliper and mount. BTW Morris did two different widths on the rear.
