Yeah, I went for a ride today with it packed and I thought the same thing. It was okay on the road but I can't scoot back any.

14 hour days makes it hard to keep up, where is everyone and what's the island schedule? Anyone going through Labrador? I'm still in Churchill Falls.

Even on slab that would be very constraining.

We're mostly all crossing over on the 17th (next Sunday!). The RedNEKS on the Rock thread has a preliminary plan of 5 days with the first night being at the hostel in Norris Point/Bonne Bay, the second night in Grand Falls-Windsor, night three somewhere near Clarenville, night four either in St. John's or on the Burin Peninsula and nights 5-10 I have no idea.

I'm just going off the GPS track though.

Don't worry. We have an effigy of you that we'll leave there so the spirits leave us alone.

Thanks for the hair and toenail clippings, by the way.

Inmate ScottieVK is trying to join our company from Long Island, NY. He was up earlier this year, but his Pops broke a leg 18 miles into the Trailway, and his ride turned into a rescue.

I'd like to have him experience the positive side this year. Thing is, his wife's a singer, and has a gig on Saturday night. He's her sound man. That means 1: He'll leave Saturday night, and drive 18 hours to make the ferry at North Sydney.

Or 2: We wait up at Norris Point and do some day rides to areas like Serpentine Lake and the Lomond Sinkhole and wait for him to catch up, should he have to take Monday's crossing.

I vote for #2. Scottie and I talked by phone today, and he seems like the sort we want to have along.

Besides, without the Long Island loyalists, there probably wouldn't be much in New Brunswick, so you guys owe him.

Read this: (not just the review, but the book, ya meatheads:) http://home.golden.net/~marg/bansite...erwiswell.html

I'm down for #2, it's not like we'll get any less riding in and I'm sure there's plenty to see around Gros Morne.

Anyone have a water filter? Mine's currently wandering around Ontario somewhere on loan, and I don't think it will arrive back in time.

As I recall, Adam the Applicant has one, but I could be wrong. One will be good for a group. We don't want gyppy tummy.

Got some work accomplished on the Mighty Mule today. Spooned on a new T63 on the rear -- bye bye 244, and good riddance!

(Actually, the 244 rear was a good enough tire. It was the front that was really scary.)

Put in new KDX needles and messed with the jetting per Eagle Mike's specs. Did not drill the slide. Overall, she's much crisper and more eager to respond. The front gets light when you give 'er some stick. I won't make any claims for horsepower, and I hope I hold my old numbers of about 50 mpg. I went with a very conservative (quiet as I could get it) aftermarket muffler

So that adds to this year's mods to a much stiffer Eibach spring on the rear and Ricor intiminators on the front. Both were very good mods. We rode a rail trail in New Hampshire, and I was fair pleased. Stuff that would have had me pissing blood because of the jarring ride stock was pretty smooth. I went through a big hump of crushed stone and didn't eat any of it. Now, Jackpiner 57 was taking some of it at 80, and flying over the bridges, but his angels fly faster than mine.

I have a katadyne filter I'll be bringing along as well.

Ordered my tires, last week they said they shipped them, but the expected arrival date was on Monday.

This week they changed the expected delivery date to today, but they didn't show up.

Hoping they show up tomorrow. Otherwise, I can get a front locally and will have to find a rear tire somewhere around Moncton or Fredericton. Or I guess Truro or Halifax since it's pretty much on the way.

A lot of stuff has to go just right for the rest of the week for this all to come together.

Successfully prevented a fire in my living room from the bond-villainesque giant magnifying glass I decided to put in my largest window. If anyone needs tips on using 100 gallons of water to start a fire, I'm your guy.
