Supermoto of Nations Oct. 12, 2014 - Team USA

Wake up Supermoto fans!

For the first time since the Supermoto of Nations started in 2008, a team will be representing the United States. The US team is: AMA Pro Flat Track racers and former AMA Pro Supermoto Lites Champion Johnny Lewis, Newly crowned AMA National Supermoto Open Pro Class Champion Gage McAllister and Monte Frank, a regular contender in the old AMA Pro Supermoto and new AMA National Supermoto series.

Press release from the AMA:
http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/...nny_Lewis.aspx

All three (among other American Supermoto champs) competed in the huge Superbiker Mettet meet last weekend in Belgium and have all now traveled to Italy for testing of the prototype Aprilias they will race this weekend.

I'll post updates during the weekend and see if I can find any live streaming coverage.

Great news, this should be fun to watch...if I can find it.

FWIW - Holy cow those are some gigantic pipes on the Ape's. They must be making some serious horsepower...

Bad ass!

It's been too long for SM for me. Good excuse as any to go to Italy.

Cool, thanks I saw the AMA series back in 2006 when it came to Michigan. I loved it and wished the it was still going on as a nationwide event

I assume Gage is Brok's kid? He was about knee high the last time I saw him!? Very cool! I'll be looking forward to seeing some results, thanks!

Photos from Saturday. Gage had the fastest USA qualifying time and also had a best of the USA finish of 9th in his qualifying race. Tough day with some crashes and bike problems for the other team members.

I'm still trying to figure out the format. Waiting to hear if TeamUSA advances.

Photos here:
http://mxptv.com/photo/photos-saturd...to-of-nations/

Johnny Lewis is #91
Monte Frank is #92
Gage McAllister is #93

It appears TeamUSA is the only team racing Aprilias.

Edit: Just read that TeamUSA made the 16-team field for Sunday's races. Six of the original 22 teams were eliminated after Saturday.
