Panama

Almost forgot, depending on your timeline, if we get to Panama ahead of you, you are welcome to look us up and hang your helmet for a day or two at our shack on the beach.
We plan on getting there a week or two before Christmas.
If any one else is passing thru, they are welcome to stop by!

Thanks Phil , glad you are aboard
Much as your offer of a beach shack sounds GREAT , I am booked on the boat on the 15th of November , so will take a rain check on that .
A balmy 35 F here in Dayton right now , brrr . But it should be a nice clear day without to much wind . First real day of my ride and feeling OK about it after getting better with staying on the right hand side of the road .

Heading to Bishop , thats the plan . Have been told its a nice ride .
Farewell good Host Jimi Mac and farewell good WiFi

Stopped for the night in Lone Pine after a very cool departure from Dayton NV .
I have never had heated grips before Orchy , but will never have another road bike with out them . So Good
Spectacular is the word that come to mind with regard to the scenery .
Bloody dangerous ... trying not to stare at the surroundings and staying on the blacktop !
Motel joint ,Timberline , did the job . Not quite cheap , but cheaper than others and off the Hwy a little so quiet .
Had a wild party night , in bed by around 8.30
Cool this morning , but not freezing . Want to hit the road soon and take advantage of the cool and still morning . Death Valley is next on the map .

Hello Billy,
it was great to meet you at the gas station in Panamint Springs/ Death Valley.
We were the three guys riding dirt trail in Death Valley.
Enjoyed chatting with you and wish you good luck on your travels.
Let me know if you need help in Southern California.

Cheers mate!

Cool2

Yes I remember you Square 1 . Glad you are aboard and Thank You for the offer of help . Welcome LTS and eshankle also .

The ride from Lone Pine to Panamint Springs was simply the best ride I have ever done . Fantastic new road surface , No traffic and superb scenery with perfect temperatures .
Bloody difficult to actually get anywhere , as I found myself stopping so often to take another picture .

Just outside Lone Pine , Mt Whitney is around here , not sure which peak it is , but spectacular in the morning sun .
A very nice bloke at the motel informed me of the amazing differences in height above sea level of this peak and down in Badlands , where I was about to head . (GoodonYa Bluey He had spent a bit of time with Aussies hence his nickname .) 14,500 down to minus 200 ft .

Bit of Brekky at Panamint Springs
What a view over the eggs and orange juice .
A bucket full of iced Tea at Shoshone and off to get past Las Vegas and into Boulder City

Going to have a look at the Dam this morning , and hoping it isn't "closed down"
The shut down had several small impacts through DV , but on the upside there were no fees being collected either .
The police are still active tho , and had a little heart failure when a patrol car coming towards me pulled over and turned around . Backing off from 80 real quick , he closed in on me and just passed me to round up a Mustang that was also sitting on 80 , but a mile or so in front of me . Luck is staying with me so far .

Hey Billy I'm a fellow Aussie on a beemer riding south also, I'm in Baja at the moment in Ensenada, I will follow your travels and we might hook up somewhere down the track. Stay safe man, glad to hear your daughter is safe in what must of been a pretty horrendous experience for her.

Cheers mate, Sheldon

Thanks Sheldon . Checked out your web page . Nice job on the car
Gutsy effort getting back out on the road after your recovery Mate .

I am in Flagstaff after a visit to Hoover Dam , and a fairly uneventful ride across to here . Off to find some tucker and maybe a JD

Made it into Douglas today and got myself a little sorted to cross early in the morning .
Only ran down from Benson today , bit tired from being belted around by the wind yesterday coming from Safford via Tucson for a new set of Anakee 3s
Great service CycleGear , one of the guys stayed back late to fit the rear for me after he was due to go home .

Visited Tombstone and had a good laugh at Helldorado . Those guys must love their work . OK to just wander around , pretty relaxed for a tourist place .

Pic update shortly but have managed to upload a vid going into Morenci on US191 . Top ride from Eagar and a shock to come into Morenci .
I wondered where I had come too

In Tucson had some new Anakee3's put on . The 2's that were on it were maybe 3/4 worn so new tyres before Mex .

Took an interesting side road off US77 at Bylas . Had taken off from Safford looking for a more interesting route to Tucson .
The road hadn't been maintained for years and got quite sketchy in places , bit of practice for down south .
But out of nowhere rounded a bend to this old Dam Coolidge Dam ?
Pretty cool , but spooky with no one around
