Subscribed! Will be curious as to your impression of the Anakee 3's. I recently put them on also but they haven't seen much dirt or gravel yet. So far they seem a bit squirrelly in deep gravel.

Mexico !

Made my crossing into Agua Prieta yesterday , from Douglas . No problems
Everyone was being very helpful even people waiting in the queue . Wishing me Luck on the journey , translating to others where I was going , telling me which window next . Good Fun after all my fears of stuffing something up .

Pretty good run down to Sahuaripa , keeping all the advice on riding Mexico foremost in my mind . Advice on Topes particularly useful .

Met some cool Mexican boys out on their big bikes . They were headed to Bisbee . Big Day for them .

Actually made it down to Arivechi , but the local Police bloke suggested better Hotels in Sahuaripa , so back tracked to the El Molino , which was where the Mexican Bikers had suggested in the first place . I should better .
The local Copper in Arivechi even escorted me to the edge of town and pointed me in the right directions . Told me I was something in Spanish , he translated for me to "Hero" when I told him I was headed to Peru via Chihuahua !!!

Greetings from Batopilas .
I am sitting in the internet cafe and I think I am being offered the services of a new wife .
Just a quick post with no photos . Am yet to work out how to get photos uploaded with the local computers . Let along the pressure from the crowd in the cafe to make a date with Ms Trini . Not understanding too much conversation doesn,t help , but they are all laughing and Im shaking my head . No doesn,t seem to cut it with this crowd .

The Anakee 3s managed to get me down to here OK Rod . But certainly squirelly in loose gravel and with gravel spread on top of pavement I am careful for sure .
But very happy on the road and with the track down to here they were OK . Knobs would have been better for sure , but overall I am happy to have fitted them .

I am now in the Hotel San Francisco in El Fuerte . Just stopped at the first one that looked OK , secure parking ? Yes ... thats good enough . I was exhausted .

If anyone suggests going from Batopilas to Tubares , I suggest it isn't very good . Tough going on a big bike and you come out at an intersection that has a Narcs compound . Was "interviewed" by 3 guys with auto rifles who waved me into their area . Got told to move on after a very broken English/Spanish chat about how stupid this Australian was to come this way . Shared a few smokes around and generally demonstrated how tired I was and stupid I was .
Bit nerve wracking tho after 5 hrs struggling across an unused "road" from San Juan de Dios to Tubares .

Rain had started to fall and the conditions on what would normally be a fine road to Choix from Tubares , turned pretty ordinary . Run off was carving channels through sections of road way and some surfaces were getting greasy .
Now was a time for TKCs or such , but overall the Anakees were going OK , at my very slow and careful pace .
Followed a pair of trucks figuring them were good protection from on coming vehicles .
All was going OK , wet through but not cold , until I was relaxed a little on a short straight and hit some red clay . Good Night Orchy .
I was slowly trying to figure a way to right the beast , but exhausted now and greasy road not allowing my feet to gain traction .
Next thing there is a truck coming and it is both drivers , teamed up in one truck coming back to look for me and make sure I was OK .
What fantastic guys .
They got me upright and with only really a damaged case (computer survived !!) and a few bumps to me . Pretty shaky we headed off with me between their trucks . After 5 water crossing and more nervous moments , 4 hrs on this road , we hit pavement just before Choix . I offered some pesos for Beers , but was turned down , instead , we met up in Choix , where one of the drivers bought ME a beer ! We leaned up on the fender and chatted as best I could manage with no Spanish , but we understood each other .
They thought I was a bit crazy , and very brave . I made sure they understood I was VERY crazy and a chicken .
Wonderful fellas , I am so grateful to them .
I followed them into the dark and to El Fuerte , where they hugged me and wished me safe travel . There was a very fine and wonderful bond developed between us . ( I did force 200 pesos onto them for some beers for the next time they had some time off )

An easy way today for me to share pictures . I think they want me out of the hotel .

What...no pictures of the Chihuahua welcoming committee?...

I did the same route 1.5 years ago - without your weather - and I think I hit the same unused "road", via some older waypoints/tracks, that you did.

Well done......more please.

Nice place to stay in El Fuerte
And friends too
Bit different style last night in Culiacan
Could do with more lighting really

Thats a quick rushed upload as my paid time for my Motel is nearly up . Wasn't too bad , best AirCon yet and plenty of hot water . And very secure without having to take all the boxes off .

Great report! Just stumbled onto it this morning.

I think I would want knobs too on that wet clay road. Good on those truckers who lent a hand!

Very nice job of writing and enjoying the pics. Those roads in your last update look like some great fun (well.. when dry anyway )

Will be following along.. Ride safe!
