Make a loop of it by returning over four peaks. Or go out four peaks and return via apache trail. Then u can go up the hill instead of down.

Like the others have suggested, you can make it a full day by starting on the Beeline Hwy and coming over 4 peaks. Butcher's Hook is always a good stop and then over the bridge at Roosevelt lake back onto the Apache Trail. Uphill is a little less scary for sure. The secret to the entire trip is don't do it on a weekend. These areas are like bumper cars on weekends. My friend Ricardo was almost run over by a fast moving sandrail going up 4 peaks. Another time we had a group of 5 or 6 and we all came close to getting wiped out by a motorhome. I have ridden these areas mid week and seen a dozen other vehicles. On the weekends that number goes up ten fold. -Paul
