Need Yamaha Super Tenere Rear shock/spring

The 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere comes in 2 versions in the USA....one with a conventional suspension as in the earlier 2012-2013 versions and now an electrically adjustable ES version. As I am going to buy a new 2014 Super Tenere for a 2 year trip from the US to Chile 2 up and with a heavy load can the ES version have a stronger/stiffer rear shock fitted that interfaces with the electric ajusters? Perhaps I should get the standard model and put a Ohlins rear with a heavy spring. Can you give me an idea of what Ohlins shock and what spring for a grossly overloaded 2014 Super Tenere you recommend.

2007 BMW R1200RT, non ESA

Good Morning, Mr Ohlinspro, I just found this thread and I must say, the timing is good.
I would like your recommendation for replacement shocks on my new to me RT. It is a 2007 non ESA, with only 68,000 gentle miles, all of the miles were put on the bike by a young lady of only 115 lbs. The bike has been very well maintained in accordance with factory service intervals. It has the original shocks. I weigh 225 with gear, will carry approx 50 pounds of luggage, and ride solo. I am not an aggressive rider, although I do find myself speeding up for the curves, sometimes. !
I am going to replace the shocks ASAP . Thanks for your insight.

BY WITH CONFIDENCE FROM SUSPENSION ONLY PEOPLE!

The shock look great! Got them installed that weekend; rear was EASY, front not so much(blame BMW), but not too bad.

I am , however, having an issue with setup. My first impression upon taking the bike off the center stand was that the rear was way too soft and the front was stiff.

After taking measurements and adjusting the rear preload(ended up with the hyd. adjuster cranked ALL the way in!), this is what I have now:

Front sag = 54mm (should be 63mm)
Rear sag = 92mm (should be 66mm)

This is the difference between fully extended and me sitting on the bike.
Now what??

Hi Mr Super T!

i'd consider a Non Electric extreme Super Jumbo Shock for maximum range on your Global Journey ,custom sprung and done.

Without the limitations of electronic control version that only offers Three flavors of change (Vanilla, Chocolate,Strawberry)

Some folks even go with 2 sets of springs So when they return form a Global camping ride

They Put the Normal springs back on for regular riding throughout the year.

Theres only 2 extreme brands i'd recommend , I'll Pm a couple with pics

I think there's water between the U.S. and Chili?

THX!

Adding the preload manualy helped considerably! The new, stiffer spring should be perfect . And I think the front will come in as well. Thanks Mr Dr Ohlinspro!
