01 gs r1150

I am not familiar with BMW's and am considering buying an 01 GS R1150. Is 61K a Lot of miles for this bike and are there any issues with this model?

Thanks Livio

that is low miles for that bike. they can go over 3 or 400,000 if taken care of.

It looks decent. I have a similar bike with 12K more miles. I have had the ABS pump rebuilt ($350) and had to clean out the fuel tank because the tank liner let go. I have a black tank and I live close to the sun so I think you will prob be ok.

I bought mine with 24K on it three years ago for $6500. Offer the guy $4500 and settle at $5000.

+1

Hard to say which grenade might go off on you so don't obsess over it. Looks good. If it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Change the brake lines to steel and ride the wheels off it.

Suggestions;

1- Make friends with someone who knows these bikes and ask him to inspect the bike with you.
2- 61K is low mileage. There are those who have 300,000+ miles on this model without any issues.
3- There are issues with all model motorcycles. Refer to #1.

I bought my barebones 2001 GS April of 2012 with 42k. I turned 61k last week. My cost in accessories:roughly $1800. My cost in repairs/maintenance: roughly $100(I perform all labor). As it's already been said, there's always the common problems with all bikes; but this is my first 'non-Honda' bike and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. It is also probably the easiest bike to work on(except for clutch replacement).
