Amateur trying to survive TOUAREG RALLY 2014 as a privateer...

Hi! I am 35 year old Finnish, been riding all sorts of bikes all my life, last two years has passed on a adv-riding. I always wanted to do a desert rally and my dream seems to come reality in Touareg 2014!
I will test myself properly and do this all alone, as a fireman my fitness will not be a problem, all the rest i will find out in there...
You can follow my progress in here: www.raceyourdreams.blogspot.fr
Ride safe out there!

Tuareg 2014

What class are you intending to enter, the 950 is not the ideal bike for Tuareg. We had 690's that were struggling to navigate the tighter rocky tracks.

I tried Tubliss in Tuareg rally 2011 with this result on day 2:

Stay with UHD tubes, I do not expect a lot of nails in Tunesia.

Are you sure you need extra fuel?

A friend of mine used the 950 succesfully in Marocco (pro class)

Enjoy the preparations

You are definitely more capable than i am. I sold my 990 Adventure 2 days ago, in order to buy a lighter (530Exc based) rally bike to pursue my Rally Racing dreams.

Maybe we will meet each other ? Good luck with your preparations.

Ok, thanks for sharing your experience with tubliss system, i will re-think that! Extra tank i installed while ago so, yes it will stay with the bike, it doesn't harm to have possibility for extra juice..:)
Good luck with 530, see you down there...

Great to see you taking the 950 - very different to everyone else.
I think I would take the extra fuel just incase.

I am interested in a t-shirt for support. Please PM me you email address so I can send you some $$$ via paypal.

Most Likely see you there.

I'm planning on sending my 501 Berg which I have just finished the Australian Safari on over to race.

It will get a minor service, new tires and is good to go.

I'm very much looking forward to a real African Rallye.
