selling my bike

First off I hope it's OK to post this here, if not I apologize. I have a 1976 R90/6 that I'm just not riding enough to justify keeping her. She's in great shape recently has had valve adjustment and carb's gone through by local BMW dealership. Has original front fairing and three hard bags ( side/rear ). New AGM battery last year along with new tires. To my knowledge she's never been down I'm the fourth owner, previous three were all in the same family. She has 35,538 miles with all original paint. Wheel spokes need to be cleaned up they have a light green coating on them. I want her to go to a good home and be ridden as she was built for. Really needs nothing other than to be driven. I'm in Marietta GA. and asking $3500.00. Pics available via email.

You might want to move this to the Flea Market section, GLWS.

I'm a little confused by 'original front fairing'. The R90/6 wouldn't have a front fairing that I'm aware of from the factory.

Sounds like a nice unrestored original. Kadesean is right. A /6 doesn't have a original fairing. Maybe there is a name somewhere on the fairing? Pictures would be nice but if you have trouble posting them one of us will post them for you. You can send pics to me in an Email and I'll post them for you.

What color is the bike?

My Airhead's up for grabs too...for the opposite reason... After 27 years, I've just worn her out. I'm riding MORE than I ever have and just don't have the time to spend wrenching. I'm still a "vintage" kind of guy though....I bought an 83 Goldwing with 29K miles. I've got several locals interested in my R90 but I won't give it away.....

I hear Gold Wings need no regular maintenance except for the most standard things like oil changes and new plugs once in a great while.

Meanwhile us Airhead riders think Top End jobs and rebuilding transmissions are regular maintenance.

See ya around.

My bike is a she.
I know because I bought this stuff once when I couldn't start it.
It didn't work because it's for male bikes.

Butler and Smith added Avon fairings as "official accessories" to /6 at the customers request. I just got rid on one that was on my R75. While they were not official BMW, they were official Butler and Smith. They were also butt ugly.

...and steering bearing/wobble issues. My last big project on the R90 was head bearings...and the subsequent trial and error adjusting. The bearings on the wing are glass-smooth....just need tightening.

...I'll still be hanging out here....too much fun to pass up!!!!

There is no trial and error to it. you simply adjust them correctly. if you don't know how you will have problems. And maybe go through some bearings. If it doesn't come to you...yeah, get a wing. Does that have a timing belt or a chain? You do what to set the carbs? I've looked at them but they didn't look too appealing to work on and they weigh a ton. I've picked one up.

One of my first larger airhead projects was replacing the damaged head bearings on my /5. They had gotten loose, I didn't know to adjust them. I never had to replace them again---more than 20 years with that bike.

I got a set of Ed Korns head bearing pullers. It's been in the bottom of the toolbox forever. I used it for the first time recently. It popped the races out of the frame like right now. Not so great on the lower rolling element and inner race. Got it off but damaged it. I need to make some improvements there. I also just tore down that old /5 motor. Need a better puller for the front crank bearing. I know how to design that one but the bearings are $20 and the tool would cost more than 5 times that much to have made, so...

Modifying the element so it won't roll over completely should help prevent getting it inner race.
