Question BRP triple clamps AND PHDS?

I bought a set of BRP triple clamps with Scotts damper from the same guy I bought my new SE from

I also have a set of PHDS in my garage

Previously, I've tried to install the PHDS onto an SE, and failed - because the bar mounts on the SE are different to those of the EXC that the PHDS is designed for

The BRP triple clamps have the same mounts as the EXC though, so wondering if anybody has installed the PHDS onto BRP triple clamps?

Does it even make sense to have both the Scotts damper AND PHDS?

It looks like I may not be able to fit the ENTIRE PHDS assembly anyway, because the bars will be too high and the throttle/clutch cables too short - more likely, I'd just use the top part of the bar clamp, which has the rubber dampers attached

Suck it and see?

well, I just tried putting the 2 together... it doesn't work

The PHDS has a different offset for the bolts to the BRP clamps, so the top bar clamp won't go onto the BRP mount. You can't put the dampers from the PHDS onto the BRP clamp because the bars are then not clamped tightly

I guess that means that the BRP+Scotts is going onto the 950SE, and the PHDS onto the 525

A long time ago, there was a post from dirtinblood - they were making a stronger damper mount. The BRP damper mount is somewhat lightly constructed and can twist if the bike takes a heavy fall.

The stronger damper mount had holes that regular bar clamps could mount to - including the PHDS (except that the PHDS requires a dove-tail slot).

I will see if I can find the post. I have been wanting to get one myself.
I would also replace the rubber dampers on the brp with solid ones that CJ makes. These rubbers mean the damper isn't solidly mounted - which is a negative IMO.

Aha. I found the thread in question.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496742

What I want to do (but havent had time to push it along) is to :
1) Remove the rubber bushes and fit the solid metal ones I got from cjracer (http://www.cjdesignsllc.com/products...shing-kit-4ps/). This makes the damper mount much more solid - and the damper can no longer move with respect to the damper post.

2) Replace the BRP damper mount with the RallyConnex mount - which will move the bars fwd a bit (which I dont mind) give the damper a much more solid mount. My bike has been down a few times and the existing BRP mount will get twisted by the force applied on the handlebars.

3) Fit the PHDS mounts

4) Try get another Highway Dirtbikes topclamp made up for the PHDS (I got a couple made up a couple of years ago - one was for a chap oop norf here in the UK - and the other is on my 525)

Let me know how you get on with RallyConnex - I want one of those damper mounts too - ideally machined with the grooves needed for the PHDS mounts...
