1190 windscreen mounted to 990 ????

has any body that has both the new 1190 and a 990 looked at mounting the new 1190
windscreen with or without the quick adjustment brackets on a 990 adventure ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have looked at all the aftermarket screens for the 990 and they all seem to stay
with the straight up or "rally style" which we all know is not a good design for road use
the new 1190 screens seem to have addressed this with a much more swept back
shape to have a smother air flow.

HA!! Speak ONLY for yourself there fellow! I have no issues with the 990 windscreen!! I am sure I am not the only one who thinks that. If you want to achieve what the 1190 has that's fine, but DO NOT categorize "which we all know is not a good design for road use" for WE ALL KNOW. I guess since you already have experience with the 1190 windscreen you should be able to come up with something that should work for you. Good luck with your project.

:) I though 990 was briliant well at least that's what I heard in here:)

Also heard that -2012-2013 990 got big problems with front end very wobbly over 60 mph.

Pretty fired-up about that windscreen huh?
Because you have no issues does not mean it's a good or optimal design.
I see a lot of pictures on this site of 990's that have after market windscreens so something is not totally satisfying w/ the stock one.

cool your jets Buddy ! for I am not alone on this !
take a look at this :Windscreen Disgust ...... again - ADVrider
just one thread of hundreds (105 pages in this one) on this windscreen issue !
If I had "experience with the 1190 screen" I would rig something up BUT
there are NO 1190 bikes in the USA or Canada till 2014.

That is why I was putting it out there : for someone with access to 990 & 1190

990 screening

The wind buffeting is my only real complaint with the 990, everything else is pretty cool. Fitting a 1190 screen if possible could be the answer to this buffeting, perhaps.

I think anyone over 5'8" tall will have problems with the stock 990 wind..shield. Just sayin.

You might be refering to the D908 equiped Baja. It's the knobbies, nothing else. Mine is worn down and the headshake is long gone.

Before you spend a lot of effort and/or money on your windscreen, if you have a DS helmet with a beak, take it off and see if the buffeting goes away. If it does, then you need to stiffen up the beak. It worked wonders for my buffetting issues.

Don't think the 1190 screen is the cure. I get buffeted by it, low, high, forward or back.

Putting the option taller screen has helped, as it's taller AND wider at the top. That solves the buffeting for me, although wind noise is still present.

I'm 6'1" and have the seat on the low setting.

+1. also a helmet with a visor makes it worse.

I'll take my visor off and see if it helps although if I lift my head it does not tug one bit but that has nothing to do with buffeting.
