If they were burglars, they would probably be stupid enough to film the entire heist and post it on youtube.
Burglary requires planning, which requires thought. These are just opportunistic thugs. It is good to see the system work and get these people.
Also, anyone involved is stressing out over being caught if they aren't yet.

I sure hope they go after some of them for simple traffic infractions.

I should have just typed "Blowback" instead of "unintended consequence."

There is another video on youtube of a similar riding gang in Baltimore, on various bikes, scooters, ATVs even, ripping through inner city neighborhoods. Riding the wrong direction in the opposite lane, basically anywhere on the road. Wheelies all over the place, even on the sidewalks right past entrances to homes. Pack riding mentality more akin to viral dogs, moving all around cars in both directions.

You can't convince me that anyone in any of those cars don't feel some measure of threat by these riding gangs. And I'd bet if by accident one of these cars would "take out" one of the riders that some form of retaliation would ensue.

Seems our current inner city society of grandiose entitlement has gone mobile. They feel they can do whatever they want, in large enough numbers that the police can do little about it.

Yet another reason I'm glad I live in east central Wisconsin.

This is not a thing you can blame the inner city for. I am sure these guys came from all walks of life, hell, five of them were cops.

yeah, none of that sounds very scary tbh. i am not a hard guy, or jaded by city life. but we are talking about riding bikes, here. on sidewalks and across front lawns? atv's "terrorizing" neighborhoods?

um, things happen in big cities. but really, we're OK. if someone comes my direction in the wrong lane on a bike, woe to them i say.

oh wait, i'm on a bike, too

even in Wisconsin their must be something worse? if not, well....have a good day

You are more twice as safe statistically from violent crime in NYC than in Milwaukee.

yeah you can't be scared of everything all the time. i try not to take things too personally if not directly involved. i have been a victim of crime and known victims of violent crime and save my emotions for the times when directly affected, such as those. more to come, i am sure. hopefully not me or a close loved one but i can only hope 'n pray

i have a disdain for law breakers who hurt others. otherwise i sing a happy tune, and they don't scare me. i just go....

....BOO and they run away

It all boils down to the members of a society wanting to shift their burden of personal responsibility onto another. Eventually a "ME" society is the result where folks expect someone else to take care of them and protect them from harm. This is an illusion.

Others will realize this and take advantage of the fact that most are conditioned this way, knowing that they can get away with things that aren't considered acceptable simply because there aren't enough people acting as enforcers to stop them.

History is full of examples of this as civilizations rise, stabilize, and eventually fall. Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.

Someone once said, "An armed society is a polite society" and this is because if everyone has the power and inclination to act as an enforcer then those who would consider acting outside the bounds of the acceptable norms will be less likely to do so.

If societies could only reach that point of equilibrium and maintain that delicate balance point between lawlessness/anarchy and total dependence on the illusion of safety there would not be problems like this.

Unfortunately, the law of the jungle promotes the path of least resistance, and this ultimately means that comfort, and the illusions that come with shirking personal responsibility, will always take precedence over the effort required to be self-reliant, to be respectful and to act independently for the common good.

Worth repeating.
