Stone Mountain, NC Lodging

Anybody know a good/interesting place to stay around Stone Mountain, NC. I'm not picky, but it seems like everything is a good ways away. I'm coming from Rocky Mount, NC, so I'd like to stay on the south side if possible.

Thanks.

I'm no help for south side lodging but Sparta, NC is not too far away and the Alleghany Inn there has comfortable clean rooms for reasonable rates.

I'll take a look. I''m leaning towards Jonesville since I'm coming from W-S, but you never know where I'll end up.

Thanks again.

Depending on what your activities will be.
To the south you can stay in Wilksboro but not much there.
You also have Elkin that is not far, there are hotels and places to eat. about a 20 min ride to Stone Mtn from there. There are cabins located at the entrance to stone mountain, never stayed in them so no opinion.

Mt Airy is not too far either.

Those cabins look like what I was looking for. Might have to give them a buzz. Thanks.

The cabins are OK. On a side note, I got married at Garden Creek Baptist Church in Stone Mtn park a little over 6 years ago.

Congrats on 6 years!
I'm probably gonna try to get up there tomorrow evening and Thurs. morning to see what kind of pix i can get. This weekend is dualsport - riding and photoging. Looks like I'll stay in Jonesville just off the highway.
