My favorite venue to watch a roadrace by far. Huge crowds, so much good riding and fun to be had down on Cannery Row. Only in CA could an event with a draw of 150,000 not be a positive cash thing.

Indianapolis stays and Laguna Seca goes. Backwards.

Does Dorna have anything to say about it? I would hope that, because of the popularity, they'd try and fix this somehow.

Fixed it and I wish I could fix Indy, but I heard they are "trying" to.

That news is a big deal to my group of friends. We have known each other since childhood, and that was our annual get together for as long as I can remember. Camping at the track provided us with stories that will live in infamy; chased by security in our golf carts, dragging our unconscious back to camp, and quite possibly the last chance at getting laid for the permanently single among us. Yes, MotoGP will be missed.

We are now in brain storming mode for another motorsport event to hold our reunions around. After all the ribbing we have given NASCAR fans, we dare not show our faces there. Drag racing is impressive, but lacks corners. Desert racing might be cool, but having to drive to the different stages would put a damper on our drinking activities.

We may just have to put paddle tires on our sport bikes and spend the 4th of July at Pismo Beach.

It's the only track in recent memory that only hosted the top class. The regular undercard of Moto2 and Moto3 were not there. It's a weak example of what a true GP weekend should be. Plus the track management itself has admitted to losing money in the last few years. Why keep losing money? Especially on their "biggest event of the year".

Horrible news for a great track. The crowd was great for the last race, too - the biggest I've seen the 4 years I've gone.

It's gotta be tough to compete - COTA has money out the butt right now, and Indy's probably never going to struggle for cash.

So instead of two awesome tracks, we'll get COTA and a boring infield with cleverly crafted camera shots to draw attention away from the fact that the stands are bare...

(...and I'm not saying that the fans don't come out to Indy, it is just that the place suffers from "Nascar syndrome" - it has so many goddamn seats that even with 100k people it looks empty, but the rest of the world doesn't know that - they just see empty stands and think we don't care).

At least Indy is going to repave the place for the IRL cars, so it will go from flat, boring and bumpy to just flat and boring.

We'll still have SBK at Laguna, though - and there is no reason to think that they won't also get a round of the upcoming ALMS/Grand-Am combined series. Little consolation, but still...
