SC Lowcountry- Rides,events,concerts,plundering

This idea behind thread is a place to post either spontaneous or planned local rides, cool upcoming festivals, concerts, rally's or just a last minute trip to the local breweries. It has become common for a lot of the locals to post some of these type of get togethers under various SC threads such as monthly dinners or camping. Problem is, other inmates might not think to look there when planning a trip here or just passing thru. This thread is dedicated to giving you just one more reason to get out and ride the Lowcountry!

To start this thread off........

It's time for that time honored Carolina tradition.

The annual " Tattoo to tooth ratio" contest on the Redneck Rivera . You can smell the pasty white Ohio skin cooking in the southern sun all the way to Charleston.

All kidding aside, it's a beautiful stretch of beach and great time with some friendly people from all over the US. I just rolled into town and will be staying on the south side (Huntington Beach State Park)for a few days. If there are any fellow inmates in town let me know, we can get together and tell lies.

Captain Jeff -

I'm on the south end in Market Common, but sadly, I'll be riding my Tiger up to Maggie Valley tomorrow and won't get back in town till Tuesday evening. If you're still around (or next time you're back in town), drop me a line!

Thanks Rob, but I am going to try and paddle my way back to Charleston by the time you return. Come down and join us for the next dinner.

For those of you unaware of the weather here lately, it has been raining like a beeoch! Many Restaurants and bars around the Murrels Inlet were under 2 to 3 feet of water and lightning strikes knocked out cash registers, stereos and TVs in many places. Hwy 17 was closed down due to the record setting rainfall as well as several other roads in the area. There were times yesterday when it looked like a hurricane was blowing outside, hail, 60mph+ winds, and torrential rain coming down sideways. On the bright side, there was a nonstop wet t shirt contest!

Beard and Moustache Championship

This Saturday night!
Downtown Charleston

Downtown at the music farm the " Charleston Beard and Moustache Championship"
Live bands and mayhem! This is a huge event, people will be coming in from all parts of the world for this shindig.
Last year, The Music Farm exceeded capacity and had to turn away over 200 people at the door.

This is a charitable event with all door proceeds to benefit ovarian cancer research.
So even if you don't go, buy a ticket anyway, it's for a great cause!
Tickets are only $13 in advance and $15 at the door

Guys in drag sporting full beards all for charity, how can you say no to that?

Next Sunday is the worlds largest oyster roast. For those of you that have never attended, there will be lots of food vendors in addition to the beer, oysters and live bands. This annual event is held at Boone Hall Plantation. Anybody heading over?R

Not much traffic on this site in a long time. Anyone up for a ride tomorrow (Sunday, May 4th?).

Looking for riders in the extreme southern part of SC (Beaufort, Hampton, Jasper counties). Kind of like last weekend but on a different route perhaps.

Weather should be spectacular...
