Yep, it sucked big time.

I can't believe I road all the way over all the dumb mountain roads and crap gravel passes to hang out with a bunch of tallywacking bastards All I got to see was a wrecked plane, an old train and some stinky weeds.

Thanks to Scotty for feeding most everyone on Saturday! The gumbo was damn tasty!

Eek I broke my nose at Laurel Fork!

Actually it exploded on impact.

So we head out Saturday morning and not a mile from camp I cut a turn too tight and got into the mud along the edge of the road. All I remember is trying to keep my balance, the front wheel dropping into the ditch and then hitting the embankment. The guys behind me stopped and helped me get the bike out of the ditch (Thanks Guys) and it looks like the front forks are out of whack WTF! I decided to head back to camp and asses the damage.

After cleaning out the dirt and removing the broken parts it looks like nothing major is damaged, just body and plastic parts but I can't figure out the the front forks, even though it handled fine they just looked wrong. Not comfortable with the condition of the bike I decided my weekend was done. After getting the bike so it was ride-able again, I packed up my stuff and headed home around 1pm.

This was after I got home. Anyone have a spare 1150GS beak laying around?

The impact crater (I stopped and picked up the parts. No reason to trash up the forest with my body parts)

After getting home I figured out that the forks are fine. The front frame that holds the instrument cluster was bent making everything look out of whack. A minor adjustment put everything back to normal.

Overall I had a great time, even riding in the rain on Friday. I'll be back next year!

Anyone have a recommendation for tires on an 1150GS? I think the Shinko E-705's on there now have to go.

It was great to see everyone again! We had a great time this weekend...great riding for sure! Thanks to Wayne for the awesome route for Saturday and halfplate for his most excellent navigational skills. Thanks to everyone who shared their most excellent grub and beverages. Had a great time last night for sure.

I didn't get hardly any pics from Saturday's ride due to it's rather FAST pace. We had a great group of 11 or 12 to start and other than a couple small glitches it moved very fast. Good group. The stops were pretty few and pretty short. Other than lunch I don't think we stopped and took helmets off more than once. (I did take some pretty awesome GoPro video that I will try to post sometime)

So, here's that one stop where we did take a short break

Today was a little different story. I have a few more pics from today's more relaxed (to some) ride home. No names to protect the innocent...Karl, I can't help it if they recognize you in the pics...I didn't tell them your name.

We decided to ad some "Adventure" to our ADV ride today. Decided to take a road that you might say is lightly traveled and not, um, marked. It definitely was NOT a shortcut. However, it was definitely the most fun I think I had all weekend.

The fun started when we entered this gate.

Looking up the hill from the gate this is the beginning of what lies ahead.

We proceeded with little caution on up the, uh, road....as most of us cleared this first little obstacle we look back to see a big ol' pig wallerin' in the mud....

I know AB13 and Mtnflow and many others of you would have been proud.

Finally the big ol' pig decided he needed some help to get out of his waller...

The other little "pigs" anxiously awaited their big daddy pig high and dry

Again, I'm not going to say any names here to protect the "innocent" but these guys seemed awful anxious to pose for a pic...then, I had to lay down the camera and go help. The the next few moments are not documented including the celebratory moments that followed.

We proceeded on up this "road" (that wasn't) and the pig may or may not have wallered some more. Eventually we decided that just MAYBE we had taken a wrong turn. I did a little scouting and was rewarded with this awesome view.

Finally after much sweating and a lot of speculating we found the "road" we were looking for. It was pretty amazing. It was everything we hoped for and more with the little side trips. It took me back to my teenage years when we used to aimlessly wander and eventually come out somewhere...yep...it was a fun day. I might have a little video of some of that later too.

We all decided that we had probably had enough "adventure" and should get on toward home...but just then, someone else decided they wanted a little more adventure. As we started down Moyers Gap one of us might have had a flat. Hmmm...the adventure won't stop.

The pit crew attacked the task like a couple of pros (they watched the real pros do this just the day before in Bartow)

And of course, no pit crew can go unsupervised

We had a GREAT day!!!! Thanks again to everyone for a great weekend and some great riding! Awesome! Goodnight.

I saw HBurg going home from LF when I was driving home from work. We gave each other the salute. Highlight of my day. For a second I felt like I was part of it.

Is that sunshine in those pics? Glad you guys had a good time. Wish me and blooch could have gone.
