Son Luke and I were out there on XR650s about 8 km from the end cheering the riders on (and helping a lost quad rider (gal from Columbia I think) find two way points she missed). To see David C clearly handing it to Cyril, on round one ahead by 200 yards (even tho he started 2 min behind) then on round 2 just in Cyril's shadow keeping the 2 min plus another 2 min advantage!

I had no idea they were so far behind on the over all, but a minute behind David and Cyril were about 8 South American riders together!

It was a blast out there with so much fog that the sand was almost solid!

BB,

Looks like we may stay thru the final ceremony and come back to Lima Mon morning. Son flies out that night. Then I have a few days in Lima before my wife arrives and we go settle in Huanuco.

Head from Juan Carlos that his mousse cooked at 100k and he had to ride 150k on a flat with no mousse. Still only lost 23' on the stage winning time. He was leading before the mousse cooked out.

Spoke with Chavo for about 20 min at the service area between SS3 and SS4, saw the mousse pieces! Tire was OK tho! Said he was REALLY happy with everything on the bike.

He did well this afternoon, but missed a waypoint I think and got a 15 min penalty.

I was out about 12 km from the end and Chavo was actually the first to come by on the 2nd round, knew where he wanted to go and rode along the side of a dune to climb to the largest crest! I had trouble getting my 650 up and over the regular way!
