(Semi) Abandoned Quarry

While riding around aimlessly a few days ago, I stumbled across an abandoned quarry. So I decided to take a tour.

On the way I stopped by a creek to check the time and fuel.

Driving along the highway I could see the openings in the rock. I found a nature preserve with a walking trail nearby. So I parked and hoped it would take me close.

At the start of the trail I saw an old building.

Why all the dell boxes?

Isn't this cool? I wanted it.

Second story

Looking for a way in. I had to go off the trail and up a small rock bank.

View from the opening I came in.

The entrance. Wish I had a flashlight!

Pile of empty charge containers.

Tons of these.

Some white stuff.

Piles of empty sacks.

Inside, these stairs went down 4 flights.

Which led to these tunnels.

Found the end of the tunnel.

Someone found a cool place to ride.

Looking out one of the openings. I sat and watched the semi's go by for a bit.

Spare parts.

Someone found a nice camping spot.

More white stuff.

Anybody know what this might be?

For the most part this seemed pretty safe. But there were a few cave-ins.

Poor picture, but after walking for an hour I heard humming, and it came with light. Turns out a cold storage company bought the quarry and uses part of it for underground storage. They store massive amounts of frozen goods at temperatures below zero inside part of the old quarry. I walked for a few more minutes and saw more lights and walled off sections with big coolers running outside them and decided I'd made it to the end. Fun couple of hours spent walking around, very interesting place, and very large.

Sounds cool, but I'm not getting any of the pics. It's entirely possible the problem is on my end, but I can see pics in other threads. Still, sounds like a cool place to explore.

You have http:// listed twice in each link, therefore no photos show...

I think I fixed it... I had inserted the web address instead of the image URL.

In that beautiful BLUE!

50cc? 100cc? 125cc? 185cc? 250cc?

My first street legal bike when I was 16 (many years ago) was the same blue color, TS50ER! Boy, I loved that bike!

Come on, tell us the history of your bike, and do us a favor and post a load more pics of it.

I think you may have stumbled upon the much sought after, often whispered about but never spoken of in public, closely guarded Area 51 East. Noticed the black Crown Vics in your rear view mirror?
