Lawton oklahoma mechanical issues.

Ok. So after weeks of working on this bike I am reaching out to the asylum. I have a DRZ 400E that I recently bought. I can not get the thing running right. I would like to request any mechanical geniuses near by help. I am sure its a carb issue but I just can't seem to get it dialed in.

Would be willing to compensate gas and beverages of your choice or any other deal you would want. If interested post here or PM for phone number.

Starts fine. I am having issues with running at 1/4 throttle through 3/4 throttle. I thought I had it dialed in. Took it for a ride and at about 10 min it started back firing loud and constant on acceleration. FCR carb is new to me. Jetting or needle is off but it could possibly be something different. I am just to the point where I am frusterated and I feel like some one with better skills could help me and I could turn it into a learning experience.

is there a inline fuel filter? If not, very possible that you may have sucked up some debris into one of the jets. Make double sure that ALL jets and ports that are not supposed to be plugged up, are not. Good luck

How do I know which ports should not be plugged up? No inline fuel filter.

disassemble the carb, including all jets, etc.. get a can of B-12 or other suitable carb cleaner with a straw attachment and blow a blast through ever hole and passage from every direction you can. card should be exercised when doing this, as one hole you blow through may exit in a totally different direction, or be a blind hole, and by default, this will be the one pointing right at your eyes.

Also check the diaphragm, it could have crap in it.

Check the pump squirt too.

If all fail post on thumpertalk, you'll get plenty of help there.

I have a four day weekend this weekend. I will be tearing it all apart friday morning. Be on the lookout for posts with pics here and drz forum asking for help.

Also still open to some one experienced coming and lending a hand. I'm stationed at fort sill. I promise this is not a fake request to lure you in and eat your face lol.

If I am reading this right, and that is a big IF, and between 0 and 1/4 opening is when I am having problems such as popping and dying at stops, then that is a jet/fuel screw issue. Since it is not a gynormous issue last last 3 rides, I am guessing it is a fuel screw issue. Question is, popping up beginning to accelerate and dying at stop signs on a stop means that I am rich? I doubt I need to go bigger on the jet. Its pretty big.

The rain starting slowed me down in ride testing, but same thing. It only happens when everything is warm and it has been ridden for at least 10 minutes. Just went to the store to grab something and as soon as I pulled on my street I started to hear the backfiring again at about 15 MPH 2nd gear barely on the throttle.

Im gonna come out 1/2 a turn, see if it gets worse, if it does then I am going to go in 3/4 a turn. If this seems off someone please stop me.

in Tulsa .. first thing you need to do is narrow down which of three things that can cause similar symptoms.

mechanical, fuel or electrical ...

to eliminate fuel .. take off filter and spray starter fluid directly into carb opening. if all hesitation goes away with starter fluid. then proceed to overhaul carb.

intermittent electrical is a bit harder to track. what I use is a portable ignition system which puts a continuous arc to plugs. if problem goes away .. then track down ignition

mechanical is last .. go for low hanging fruit first. you need compression gauge and leak down tester to access health.
