Leaving Sweden to do reconnaissance in Morocco

Today Chris, Jonas and Lisa are heading off on their journey to Morocco!

I will take the info from Lisa's blog and put it here for you to enjoy! Lisa's blog can be found here: Lisa Nordlind - på motorcykel i Afrika med Jonas och Chris

The trip is meant to be reconnaissance for future trips with Chris's company Explore 360 (there will also be updates on https://www.facebook.com/Explore360degrees).

So here is today's entry:

We are leaving today! Chris, Jonas and I. Three BMW F800GS motorbikes loaded with cameras, tents, extra parts and plenty of adventure spirit! =)
The ferry goes from Gothenburg to Kiel. Then we will drive the bikes to Hamburg, about 84 kilometers. From Hamburg to south France by train. Another 200 kilometers by bike and a Italian ferry to Tangier in Morocco. About 4 days to get to Africa.
In Morocco we have 2-3 weeks of exploring to do! Stay tuned

From here.

Best regards,
Kristofer, Motonaut

Thursday afternoon

We had loads of time to go from Särö to Gothenburg but we managed to leave in last minute and stressed away to the Ferryl.
After a bitter second place in the ”music quiz” we deserved a nice food and wine buffe

Autozug from Hamburg to Narbonne

Heavy winds on the way to Hamburg. Pitstop at German Touratech to add some more ”just have to have stuff”. I got myself a ”cameltoe”…!?!? A sidestand extention thing so the bike will bea easy to park on loose ground. Just loaded the GSés on the Autozug and have 20 houers to go to Narbonne. Autoug is a train that carries cars and motorbikes. Sushi for lunch =)

Eid al-Adha

We arrived late at night to a small village in the mountains. The camp site was closed but Aziz, a local was so kind to invite us to his home. He gave us two rooms with beds and chai tea.

The next day we experienced Eid al-Adha, a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide. A sheep was sacrified to Allah and the streets were covered in blood.

Atlas mountains

After 3 days in Morocco we still don't know what time it is. GPS time, phone time, local time that seems to change by day… sometimes by 15-30 minutes…

So far the best day of riding in Morocco!

My new bike is a killer! It feels small, fast and it really loves the gravel and bumpy roads. The weight of around 220 kg only shows when trying to lift it up after a fall.

A fabulous day in the Atlas mountains with about 110 kilometers. Best birthday ever!

I'm in for this little trip of yours. Nice photos of different country side.

How are the bike's holding up? Give us a little info on your set up of the bikes.

Ride safe!

One of the beautiful things about riding solo is the quality of the social experience.

Hi Beachguy!

Contact information for Jonas, Chris and Lisa is on Lisa's blog here: http://nordlind.com/kontakt/

I am unfortunately not on the trip, just helping out posting.

In the blog it says (in Swedish on nordlind.com/utrustning/):

JONAS – BMW F 800 GS 2010
Jonas wants to keep the weight as low as possible so he spends many hours in the garage rebuilding his bike. He replaced the standard battery with a lithium version and saves almost 5 kg.

Jonas is riding with soft luggage, using the Motonaut Adventure system.

Karoo 3 tires from Metzeler

CHRIS – BMW F 800 GS Triple black 2012 Crash bars and sump guard from Adventure-Spec. Tires: rear Karoo 3 & front TKC 80, aluminum panniers from Touratech. Front suspension from Hyperpro and the fairing from Britania Composites.

LISA – BMW F 800 GS 2013
Touratech crash bars, sump guard, light guard, GPS holder, luggage rack Zega Pro aluminum panners with lock and a tank bag. Motonaut straps.

Karoo 3 tires from Metzeler

More than this I know that Jonas modified his fork and is running a high fender and only one brake disk up front. He also has an Öhlins rear shock.

So far I have not heard of any problems with the bikes.

Best regards,
Kristofer, Motonaut
