Andy...Thanks Man!!! Mrs Trip and I trailered down from Rhode Island and rode the SM500. Just got home last night. What a fantastic ride!

We did the entire route over 4 days: Ironhorse to Tellico Plains; Cherohala Trails to Ellijay, GA; Ellijay to Hiawassee; and Hiawassee back to the Ironhorse.

Nap Time on Charlie's Creek Rd:

Just starting to go through the photos.

I'd like to run this if anyone wants to take a crack at it in the next month or two. I can either DRZ400S it or DL650 it depending on what other bikes decide to join in.

PM I am interested

however not sure if we will fit together as a group. I ride a BMW G450x. only about 90 miles to a tank. if you two are riding the 400 and 525 it might be a good match. I live down near Atlanta, GA, and would trailer up to a starting point. PM as I am always looking to ride some dirt/gravel (not much for pavement)

Ellijay/Suches/Hiawassee

We did the portion of this route between Ellijay and Hiawassee this weekend.

I like maintained forest roads

Very scenic, with waterfalls, a couple of creek crossings and one road that had not seen much traffic this century

Once we left Hiawassee, we picked a route back to Ellijay that was about a 60/40 gravel/pavement that was just outstanding.

We can make it a small bike trip...no problemo....er ...I might need a new D606 front though.

This ride sounds good if you're up for a couple other smaller bikes to come up that way.

I have a report from a reliable source that the ice cream in Ellijay is worth stopping for.
