I don't remember other company then Biking Viking who rent bikes here, but they are greate guys. You can also try the local dealers here. What kind of bike do you prefer? When are you coming and what are your plans?

I'll be in Reykjavik for the weekend of July 30-31. Raykjavik I know from a previous visit so this time I would like to go gravelroad riding and see some beautiful views. I'm still waiting for a reply from Biking Viking. If you know about any other ways to arrange a day on the Icelandic gravel-roads, please let me know!

Have a great weekend!

I'm pulling this thread back out of the ether. Anyone know if it's possible to rent (reputably) in Iceland for less than $150-200/day plus $50-75 each way in airport transfers? With the $ strong in Iceland, I'm amazed it's still so expensive to rent a bike. That's the cost of 3-4 days worth of rental in Costa Rica!?!

The two places I've checked are bikingviking and admo-tours. I enthusiastically welcome any suggestions since I'll be there on business in a few weeks and would love a more interesting way to get around than cabs.

Renting a motorcycle in Iceland

I am going over to Iceland this summer.

The best deal I could find over there was with

with http://www.ridingiceland.is/

They want 100 EU /day ~ $135.00 US

All imported items in Iceland are expensive.

rental in Iceland

I am planning a two week trip to Iceland in August this year and I am deciding between getting either a bike or an SUV. I did few bike trips in South America and Alaska. Sure, bike would be way better but it's just crazy expensive there. Let me know guys if you find something for less than $70/day.

Yep, I gave up. I'd only have one day on my business trip for fun riding, so I can't justify spending that much money on a bike rental. Will wait until I can go to Iceland for fun instead.

And I know things are expensive on islands, but this is by far the steepest I've seen anywhere. Hotels and such have adjusted their rates into the realm of reason after their banking crisis, don't know why moto rentals aren't doing the same.

I'm going to Reykjavik next week. I wish I could bring my bike, but I guess I'll rent one for a few days. Hopefully get to ride 8/11 - 8/14. First time in Iceland!

Hi I live here in Iceland and there are a few places here that you can rent bikes from now.

http://www.bikingviking.is/
http://www.bluemountain.is/
http://www.ridingiceland.is/
http://www.ktm-tours.net/

Since the icelandic currency fell I think prices for foreigners arent very high anymore.
But for us living her there is almost impossible to buy new bikes anymore. Everything we buy from other countries has doubled in price.
Now is the time to come visit Iceland.

Thanks! I'm renting from 'ridingiceland', but it's good to know of alternatives. I am leaving tomorrow and plan on starting my tour of Iceland on Sunday. I hope I get to meet some fellow adv'rs.

Just thought I would see if anyone has any updates on motorcycle rentals in Iceland. I will be in Iceland for a few weeks doing research, but hope to take some time to get on a motorcycle.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what areas would be best to check out? I will not have the money to rent a bike for a long period of time so I will have to make my time count!

Thanks in advance,
Ryan
