Tags/plate requirements in Atlanta

Hello, everyone

I have what might be a simple question about a getting tags and plates in Atlanta, Ga for a used bike.

I have read online one account said i need to get a T-228 form notarized to register the bike!?

Could anyone shine any light on what I need to produce at the DMV office? I assume I need:

- Drivers license
- proof of residence such as utility bill
- proof of insurance?
- money (cash or check as it's old school at my local DMV)
- application form

So, do i need this Affidavit of Fact for a Motorcycle or Motor Scooter T228 form, and do I need emissions inspection?

Thanks

do you have a current title for the bike that's been signed over to you? if you have that, then you need your GA drivers license, proof of insurance (a hard copy of the binder that's less than 30 days old), and the correctly filled out title.

I don't remember if you have to take in the bill of sale, but the big question then is do you pay the taxes up front or do you want to pay each year the ad velorum taxes. if you plan to keep the bike for a while, pay it up front, if you plan to sell it in the near future, it might be easier to just pay for the year.

most of the time the other forms are if there's an issue with the title (missing, bonded, totaled vehicle, etc). Then you have to have inspections done and fill out lots of other paperwork and spend a few trips getting things right. lol.

lastly if the bike hasn't been registered in GA for a few years (i.e the previous owner didn't use it on the street or something) then they may want you to pay "back taxes" on the vehicle. or maybe not, depends upon who you talk to that day. :)

Title or BOS, no forms needed. Takes cash, or they hit you with a surcharge for using a card.

Thanks, everyone that clears it up for me.

I will have the title (non GA), bill of sale, etc. Looks like the tax will be $200ish.

thanks again. Now I want to find some dualsport trails.

When I bought mine from Texas, I had to have a Sheriffs Officer come out and verify the VIN..that was last March.
