Best one I had was a guy wanting to trade me a depth finder, and I don't even have a boat. No prob, the guy says, I can make you a great deal on a boat I have for sale....
So, how you liking the new boat?

Trades can be handy sometimes, my mate lost a leg in a bike accident with a taxi, after re-sitting his test,(they wanted to make sure he could still operate a normal bike) I traded a La pierre froggy (mtb) that I had finished paying for and ended up with a Ducati 750 ss that just needed a service and a new output shaft seal(very easy repair costing 5) and a good clean, fair enough I hadn't taken into account that he couldn't operate the rear brake with his new leg but we swapped the Ducati for an American import CBR600 and he's like a pig in s*it now, sorted.

Control issues much? Can't stand trade ads? Don't read them.

This is just wrong. I search engine Craigslist for RD400, or 1200 Dorsurduro, and there they are, whether 12 miles away or 1200 miles, how bad do I want it? I've bought an SD a lot of stuff on Craigslist. Its been very beneficial to me.

I am big on trades. Swapped cars with a buddy when I was 16. We were both very happy!

Have done many many since then. Here's the thing. I have always been happy with the trades I made because if it didn't make me happy I don't have to do it.

Sometimes I just practice this phrase: No thank you.

My last trade I was looking for an small plated dirtbike for my wife. A guy listed one on craigslist and right there in his ad he mentions that he would be willing to trade for a 600cc sport bike of equal value. I just happen to have a 2001 Triumph TT600 for sale for the exact price he was advertising his XT for. The trade was made and I was very happy.

Heh,Ive had a 530 0n CL for awhile,I get trade offers alright.
But for old motorhomes,jacked up 1992 4X4's,weed,funky streetbikes,etc.
And this with the words "No Trades" mentioned more then a few times.

I would be losing many thousands per trade but most wannabe traders are dead serious and seem to think their scrapheap is the one that will turn my head. Its become too repetitious,Yokels would be a polite term.

I WOULD trade it for a 2013 300XCW and have done many trades that worked out great.

Man. You don't let much by, do ya? At the time I had a big, obnoxious signature asking for trades for my bikes.

I did trade an 82 XT125 that ran and not much else,I figured what could it hurt and posted it on CL for trade.

Within a day a guy called and mentioned some junk bikes he would trade.

I said I already had junk, trying to be nice.

Then he said he also had a 1969 BSA Rocket III sitting in the yard,I said I could be there in an hour.
I ended up having to throw in a small chunk of cash to get the BSA but cleared 5000.00 in parts sales from the bike.

Later I traded a running but rough TT500 for a running RD400 and traded that for his other Rocket III,he was thrilled,I cleared about the same profit from that BSA.

All started with a 100.00 XT125 I picked up because it was sitting next to another bike I was buying.
