The next morning I first went on a little detour to the Ross River
Resort to fill up my fuel and then went on following the Binns Track.

After a short segment of the Plenty Highway the Binns Track followed
some smaller tracks north. I stopped next to the track when I ran out
of daylight.

I've been following your thread for a while now, I'm really glad you are actually doing the outback properly. Not many Aussies bother to see this either, it's just too far from anywhere, but it is quite rewarding as all your wonderful photos show.
Pleased you are having a great time exploring the country

The next day started with a very rough section of the Binns Track that
quickly changed into deep sand. It took me two hours to conquer the
first 60 km of the day I still don't like sand.
But I had the chance to speed up for awhile on the Sandover Highway
because there is no sand over the highway :) I stopped at the
Ampilatwatja Aboriginal Community to get some (cheap!) fuel and some
(cheap!) steaks for dinner and went on into the Davonport Ranges
National Park where I camped at the Old Policeman Waterhole.

Great RR

Hey Dominik,
Enjoying your RR immensely bud! I've been following from day three & hooked ever since. Kudos to you for doing such a trip solo(in a foreign country). Ride safe, enjoy, and keep the stunning reporting & pics coming. Ps: For what it's worth we're sitting smack bang in our winter months here in ZA right now, and temps are hovering in the low single digit minimums & low double digit maximums with plenty of rain(and snow in places) at the moment. Needless to say, your pics of sunny blue skies and perfect riding weather sparks nothing but envy & admiration mate
Cheers, H

Allow me to second that!
I did a 4 month / 15000 km trip in 2010 with my GF riding pillion on my 950 Adv. We also did Oodnadatta track and Cooper Pedy, and Flinder Ranges on an earlier trip in 2009 (on a Aprilia Capo). Seeing the same places takes me back, and I am happy that you did not miss Tassie, I lived there for five years, love the place, but love the big island too - and miss the outback...!

Safe travels and keep posting!

/OT

I really enjoy your report Dominik, and your perspective on the Australian outdoors.

I also like that you are taking as long as you want to travel through Australia. Did you simply move there? Quit your job and went for it? How are you able to stay so long? I thought Europeans can stay up to 90 days during a year.

Hi Dom

We just heard that David Upton ( the guy you stayed with in Portland) crashed somewhere along the Gibb River road. He is going to Perth for surgery on his shoulder and broken cheek bone.

His bike ( black DR650) is out there somewhere, but we still have not worked out where exactly!

So ride safely Dom. Take your time!

The track for the next day was an easy one and I only had to ride 200
km to get to my destination the Devils Marbles. Because I was there
so early I had enough time to take tons of pictures.

The next morning I did not have to go far. I ride stopped in Tennant
Creek, at town most people told me just to stop for fuel and then go
on to stay somewhere else. I stayed for three nights because Milo had
offered me to stay at his place.
And because it was a weekend Milo had time to show me Tennant Creek
and the surrounding area. We went to the Mary Ann Dam for a little bit
of hiking and explored an old abandoned mine site.
