Hi Dominik I've just found your rr and I've really enjoyed your story about many places in Australia I've never been.

I loved the pic of the goanna eating the bat - you can't get more Aussie than that!

Are you coming back through Sydney during your trip? If so please message me if you need any help or a place to stay.

Good luck with the rest of NT

The next day we had a little get together with Adrian and his wife Karan.
Adrian had suggested some of the routes I had used in the Northern Territory so this was a good opportunity to meet him in person.
Because yet again my bike look like a big mess Adrian offered to give it a wash.

Sunday evening I went together with Jacqui to the Mindil Beach Sunset Market. The market reminded me a bit of the one in Hobart except they where selling some cheap junk in Mindil.

After Jacqui had left I spend some time locking around in Darwin and I
even culture sightseeing in the museum of Darwin.

Again it was time to put some money on the table and get a new back
tyre for my bike. The old one wasn't at the end of its live but it
would not have been easy to get a new one on my planed route.

Leaving Darwin I first went into the Kakadu National Park.

That park is massive, so it took most of the day to get to Ubirr at the other end of the park. I setup camp and went to the sights to have a look at the rock art and watch the sunset.

Amazing stop and you are for once not alone like nearly everywhere else in Australia! I must admit I could have gone without the mossies :)

The next morning I went to have a look at all the other sights of the park, which weren't many. Nearly everything was still closed because of a long wet season.

As an résumé I must say I liked the Litchfield National Park a lot more then Kakadu.
From Kakadu I went back to Katherine where I stoped for a quick relaxing swim in the hot springs and then going on via the main road to Western Australia.

The following day I continued the ride to Kununurra the first city in
Western Australia after crossing the border and the start of the
Kimberley region.

And yes there is a real border between the Northern Territory and
Western Australia. It is just a quarantine check but you have to stop
and open your luggage.

Sorry for no updates in here. I was on a lightweight trip for over 3 weeks and had no phone reception (crap provider choice) the whole time.

I stayed just for one night in Kununurra and went on for a short visited of the Purnululu National Park with its Bungle Bungle Ranges.

There I first went hiking in the Echidna Chasm and later I helped hunting Cane Toads at the campsite.

These toads are an introduced species in Australia and are now spreading over the whole country. I caught over 250 Cane Toads that evening.

I am all right, Chris. Thanks for your worries.
First I had no power for the computer going up to Cape York and then I was doing some proper holiday on the northern coast of Queensland, having a good time and enjoying myself to much to get the computer out ...
But there will be more updates again in the next days ... just have to sort out some bike shipping first.

Cheers
Dominik
