dt400mx.... what do you know about it?

I'm asking myself whether this could be a decent hack- a cool old stroker, which i 've heard a little bit about.

I've been offered one at a very reasonable price and i wander whether it is worth taking up, as a cool commuter/ day trip cruiser?

Maybe do a few mods,

How reliable is it? Comfortable? The last time i rode a stroker was 9 years ago and guess... it was a DT50!!!!!

Fun times..

If I could find one that nice around here at a decent price I would be all over it.Stone reliable, fun, and if you don't hammer on it they actually get decent mileage.

Looks like a DT400e or possibly f model. I had the 250e version back in the day and it was a great trail, ride around town and ride to school and work bike. A do it all bike. The 400 should be just as good, better on the freeways and reliable as you can get in a 2 stroke.

Go for it!

I had one of those out of the box. Mine was an F but the front guard should have air vents through the back of it. Good bike heaps of torque no top end but very reliable good on the road and a front sprocket change made it good off road.

The DT400MX was the Euro version of the DT400. I have a US model 78 400E. That was the last year for the 400 in the US. I think they were available a couple more years in the Euro market.

I really like my bike! It's more street biased, but pretty darned capable offroad, considering the weight!.
