In 1995 I bought this:

I've kept it because it tends to take me places like this:

That's a 1983 Honda VT500FT Ascot. Why do I always assume everybody knows what it is? Because it's the best bike in the world, I guess

HondaVT500FT screwed with this post 12-31-2013 at 11:35 AM Reason: ID the piece of junk

when i was 12 years old, my parents bought me one of these:

Puch DS50, built in the 70´s. 50cc 2-stroke, so not really a bike BUT i did my first adventure ride with it. i strapped a tent on the back and rode it about 10km (without license or registration) through some woods and backroads to a wood we own and camped there. great times.

1966 Honda Trail 90. My brother is sitting on the Honda and I am sitting on a Suzuki 125. We sure had lots of fun on those old bikes.

Triumph Bonneville I bought it off my brother. The front fender vibrated off.

You had to be a rider/mechanic with the emphasis on mechanic. Wish I would have bought a Honda.

I don't have pictures of mine either.
Pictures in the 70s were considered so bourgeois...

I learned riding on a Derbi Senda R 50cc (2-stroke, obviously ). Later upgraded it to a 70cc cylinder. The bike weighted something like 90kg/200 pounds and had a whooping 6 gears. Given the puny engine you were basically changing gears all the time. They built them like this from 96 to 99, I think.

Cute front disk:

The 70cc cylinder eventually decided to stop working, must have been a manufacturing defect.

Here's my first bike on Christmas:

Here's the same thing as my first actual motorcycle (78 xr75), albeit someone else's show bike and I'm a little older now:
