BACKGROUND
In our multi-year effort to promote and grow “rally-raid” events in North America and Mexico, BAJA RALLY has teamed with government and corporate sponsors to provide the funding necessary to attract international riders to visit Baja CA and participate in the adventure we call BAJA RALLY. There are simply not enough rally bikes and participants in North America to support a navigation-based, roadbook rally-raid without the inclusion of a strong international field.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:

Rider must be duly registered with paid deposit by July 1, 2015
Rider or representatives must deliver a properly crated* motorbike to the Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands during the midweek of August 10 - Aug 15.
Motorbikes only. There is no space for additional quads.
Riders must have bike fully documented (duly titled and registered to the rider of record) for the overseas shipment -no exceptions.
Riders may not assign, exchange or otherwise transfer their shipping privilege to any other person or rider.
*Properly crated-See Examples below

IMPORTANT DATES: (*all dates 2015 and subject to change)
Feb 1: Normal Registration Opens
July 1: Registration for “Free Shipping” option closes
Aug 10: Receiving and loading at Port of Rotterdam opens
Aug 15: Receiving and loading at Port of Rotterdam closes
August 20: Tentative date of ship’s departure
September 20: Tentative arrival and clearance of customs in Port of Los Angeles.
September 26: Tentative arrival of crated motorbikes at secured storage at San Nicolas Hotel and Casino, Ensenada, Baja CA, Mexico.
October 10: Tentative departure of container from Port of Los Angeles to Rotterdam.

BAJA RALLY's top brass commented on the need for this incentive and the allure of a rally filled with Europeans, including noted adventure rally nomad Lyndon Poskitt, who announced his entry during the holidays.

"It's very important to include Europe's elite rally-raid riders in BAJA RALLY's growth plan", explained Director of Competition Andy Grider, "The sport is much bigger and more widely accepted in European countries and these riders have an interest in the Baja CA deserts. This is the best way for our team to attract top riders from overseas."

"This is a big deal for everyone involved", added Executive VP Fred Sobke. "This a great incentive to bring several dozen Europeans to our State. They're likely to go back home and tell everyone about Baja CA culture, history, cuisine and citizenry."

The Western Australian Tourism Board has offered similar arrangements to entice Europeans to participate in the Australasian Safari, which is officially skipping its 2015 edition.

*EXAMPLES OF PROPER VS IMPROPER CRATING METHOD
Can be wood, metal or combination of both.
Must be enclosed and secured at Port of Ratterdam

The BAJA RALLY is a multi-day, FIM-styled international rally raid for motorbikes, quads and UTV's. Modeled after the famous Dakar Rally, the BAJA RALLY is an eco-adventure that ties local history and culture into the human experience of a competitive event. Sponsored and supported by federal, state and municipal governments, the BAJA RALLY is the future of adventure tourism in Baja CA.

What a killer deal and incentive.

I cant imagine the cost the organization is absorbing to have the European crowd participate.

Kudos you you.

We have this great opportunity to share the beauty and culture of the coastal Baja CA deserts with rally racers from all over the world. We thanks the governments of Mexico and BMW MC of Escondido for subsidizing this "exchange program" for Europeans to experience this place we covet.

Malle Moto Program?:
We'd like to offer this service to all riders including the first 20 EU riders to make it into the BAJA RALLY.

We need your feedback on this. If you're considering the FREE SHIPPING option, let us know if your team will want or need this service (transporting your spares) from the organizer. We have the capacity to offer Malle Moto class (will be for tough guys only), but we want to make sure there is a reasonable demand for it.

Lastly, imagine sinking your toes in the sand after a 400KM special and sipping on a cold, salted Margarita (chased with a shot & a beer). Follow with fish taco, repeat twice each day for 4 days.

Indeed no Safari for us in 2015. Didn't the WA Tourism board also give free shipping from the states too ? You might fill a container from here if it left from the East Coast.

Edit..To clarify I would be in. Malle moto too if it came about and I can think of 3 or 4 guys I race / ride with who would love the chance to race Baja Rally.

We don't know about that USA/AUS shipping deal, weren't aware. Its certainly something to shoot for though in 2016. Lets see how we do this year.

I liked the sound of this until my wife had to go and ruin it by reminding me what happened to our mate and his borrowed bike just recently

Baja Dazed!

I am so in for this this year!

Just trying to sort out which bike to ride - (Hmmmmm - my XR fourhunnard, or a 690 Evo2 'lite'... ;o) - either way I'll be paying my entry to secure one of the European shipping spaces as soon as I can!

That side of the plan is still forming... if all else fails, I'll be working out of a trunk myself with the XR; but it's quite possible I'll be on a Rally Raid 690, most likely with John crewing (or even riding too!)...
