Thanks guys, I appreciate that. Thanks for reading it too. It's nice to know that the effort of writing it all up isn't wasted.

Wow. who'd thought that a spoke would beat the tar out of a swing arm like that?! I have driven through the entire sequoia area with a 2 wheel drive Cherokee and that was challenging enough with the snow and ice. I bet you were riding for you life on those grades.
Have a safe ride home.
What a great ride my friend!

Very much enjoyed your RR. I was in that area 10 years ago. You went to some of the same places I visited and some I would still like to go. What made it so real to me was your description of riding the Beast in those areas. Because not only have I been in those areas, I have a bike almost exactly like yours.

That is soooooooo cool. I love that!!!! Cross might be a little big though and I'm not sure how he'll react to the noise of my motorcycle cause it's not something he's used to. The last thing I want to do a a fully grown, fully trained German Shepard working dog is give him a fright with the sound of the bike (He'll tear me a new one)

Home James!! And don't spare the horses.

Sorry for the delay in finishing this up. I didn't have internet at home cause the neighbors changed their password again

I left Barstow fairly early on Sunday morning cause I had 486 miles to cover to get home the way I wanted to. 486 miles of the most boring riding EVER unfortunately, but at least it wasn't the Interstate 10.

I headed through death valley on a road that must have been drawn on the map by an accountant, there was no imagination in that road what so ever, it was simply the shortest line between two points.

I'd been on the bike for about an hour and a half when a guy on a KLR came past headed in the opposite direction. I gave him the "Low Duce" (a greeting bikers use to say "keep the rubber side down and have a safe ride). The wave I got in return was something truly "special" it was a low duce, a high duce, a waaaaay out to the left duce, it was an all over the freaking road duce!!! Lather, Rince, Repeat style too. I pulled over to make sure he wasn't trying to flag me down and he just kept on trucking as though nothing had happened. WHAT A LEGEND!!!!!! I was laughing so hard the tears nearly ran down my leg!! I don't know if I'll ever meet him or if he'll ever read this post, but if he does, THANKS DUDE!! That was awesome!!!!

I pulled into Seligman for gas and lunch. If you take the first Seligman turnoff headed from Barstow to Flagstaff, the first little place on the right is awesome!! They have A&W rootbeer on tap and the burgers are spectacularly massive!! I had the double bacon and cheese and it was great cause I was so hungry by the time I pulled in there that I was about ten minutes from pulling my lip over my head and swallowing as hard as I could

The burger looked like this

I rolled out of Seligman, inched my way through an ice cold wind that was blowing me sideways across the road and chilling me to the bone. I hit the I 17 just North of Bumble Bee and joined the throng of RV's and Weekend campers headed back to the city.

I stopped at home just before 19:00 and parked the Beast for a nice long break. I have to service her this week to say thank you for doing so well on the trip, 3400 miles in 10 days and she didn't miss a beat the whole way. I just love the way this bike is built!! I think it's about as delicate as an anvil and so much fun you have a hard time staying off it for any length of time.

I made a video clip of a collage of photo's from my trip. I'll post the link but I don't know how to link it to the post. If anyone wants to link it in for me I'd appreciate that very much. I simply don't have the I.T. skills to pull it off.

Very nicely done! I'm looking forward to your next ride report already. Make it happen! Maybe try burning something bigger next time.

Great Report

Hi Dirtbiker, loved your report. I too liked the route 66 adventure and I rode it from Chicago to Kingman but had not made the rest of the route to the Pacific Ocean yet. Was good to see it. If you want to know what you missed going East. Here is my route 66 report.
